Official Ministry of Expansion Poll Uber Island Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

This an Official Fact Gathering Poll of the Ministry of Imperial Expansion.

Here are the two most popular plans for the placement of city sites on Uber Isle.

Our next city will be at site F, this poll will last 5 days.

Option One Six total city sites, with two later sites on the coast to use additional coastal and sea tiles.

Option Two Seven total city sites, with one later site going in the middle to use the tiles not in the previous cities radius.

I voted "2". All cities are coastal ones! We will be a Super Naval Power someday... or at least we are discussing this in the War Academy: Sea Power thread

I voted 1. Better shaped cities, less overlap and quicker to build. The additional sites are of low priority, it suffices to block tile "2" with a unit to prevent the AI from sneaking a city there. It won't settle at tile "1", it never settles only 2 tiles from another city.

Option one is the best guys. Come on! #1 utilizes more land space and shares less land between cities. It also doesn't expose all of our cities to sea bombardments and invasions.

Two.

I generally prefer coastal cities to inland cities, and this plan gives us more of them.

1) Admit you were in an accident which destroyed 95% of your brains cells, they installed a bio-organic computer and it was programmed with the Civ3 AI

2) When did they demote you back to Regional Administrator of Mingapulco? Or did you just forget to update your "location" in your profile?

I voted option 1.
1) less overlap
2) less settlers needed by 1, so its faster to complete.
3) Naval power rarely effects the outcome of the game in my experience, so I dont see a massive need for the 3 extra coastal cities.
4) Option 2 wastes 5 tiles of land

I voted for #2 because on Plan 2, the North East city (C)adjoins the lake and won't need an aqaduct unlike plan #1 (B)

In addition, plan number 1 E is one tile away from the ocean, which won't allow the habor of plan number 2 Es.

I personally think that plan #2 could be perfected by shifting city F one tile NW to where it is on plan #1.

More cities means more trade, i.e. more Science & Lytons. With the closeness to Apolyton, Corruption/Waste wont be too bad. One of the ways that the Other Civ's get ahead in Techs is the fast expansion of there empires.

Make 7 cities!

Good point, E_T. Option two has only more two tiles shared than option one, and the gain in lytons (and shields) means more science.

#1 looks nice and square, but I voted #2 because all cities are costal (ie: harbor and Offshore platform) plus it eliminates the need for an aquaduct.

Sure it might take longer, but I think we have three settlers being built already. Bingo! Thats half being made already and I'm sure we'll have another three going before we realize it. AGC should be able to poop them out quickly now that it has a grainery.

Hmm, tough one, I think that we don't need any more coastal cities from a strategic point of view, however, seven cities will produce more science etc., than six, and we don't have to build an aqueduct and we can build all the improvements associated with being next to the sea, in the event of a naval war, it could become vital, so I say option 2.

P.S. As you may have noticed, I haven't and won’t be posting as much.

You're a very talented linguist aren't you?
It's aqueduct. The reason why it's not spelled aquaduct is due to a problem with pronounciation in the Greek accent, I believe (Hebrew has similar phenomenon, you must have learned about this in school).

1. You have a terrible sense of sarcasm. Take it easy! It wasn't meant to offend you.
2. The civilopedia says aqueduct, not aquaduct. So do the several dictionaries which I checked. They all had entries for aqueduct but none of them had an entry for the spelling aquaduct (except one, which had an entry which said 'see aqueduct' ).
3. It's possible that both spellings are accepted, but aqueduct is certainly the popular spelling.
To prove my point, a google.com search with the word aqueduct brings up ~131,000 results, whereas a search with the spelling aquaduct brings up ~10,200 results. Congratulations, you're part of the 7.786% of the population who spell aqueduct wrong.
