Hmmm, a certain Jack London quote springs to mind there… I don’t believe in living my life in fear, but rather enjoying it to the fullest. I do take precautions when I deem it necessary, but then there are always risks in life no matter how careful you are.

That’s not the point. You drew the comparison of mentioning something which can only be used once – unless you’re really ‘hard up’. That fact that it happens to fit in with my lifestyle choices means that I can happily say that I try to use condoms as rarely as I deem safely possible. Used condoms are an unavoidable waste product – a used comb (even a disposable one!) is not, until it gets too old to be of any use.

Well I don’t use soap to wash my comb because I don’t use a comb!
Actually I don’t generally use soap at all really – no need to unless I’m really dirty from say working on my car or what have you. Maybe that’s why I don’t have spots!

Now you’re just be facetious! : ) You’re talking about things that you do have to do such as washing your hair (mine is usually very short, my current smallish shampoo bottle is still half full after 4 months and I don’t need to use conditioner ), I don’t each much meat – mostly chicken and fish (usually raw fish!), yes I do use batteries but they’re rechargeables! I currently don’t own a car and walk to work – almost everywhere actually.
So all your examples are basically lost on me!
All I’m saying is that unecessary waste should not be created and the necessary waste that is created should be lessened as much as is comfortably possible. That is why I condemn your use of a disposable comb – not that it is waste, but that it unecessary waste!

Why not do what Gatekeeper does and toss it in the washing machine with your dirty clothes – now there’s a good idea for what is, after all, a very important question!

I agree. Just as long as you stop to think of the environmental impact of all those millions of people worldwide tossing their $1 disposable combs into the trash every month!
Or the fact that that’s a $12 dollar a year comb habit you’ve got there!

Going out on a limb that you aren't being rhetorical ... nothing truly mysterious, but certainly more interesting than going through many combs quickly:
My bad habits: alcohol, girls, cigars, procrastination, cynicism, plays on words, short selling, troll feeding, endlessly searching for shortcuts. In no particular order
