Various newspapers here made big headlines speaking of a bloodbath that occured in Gaza.

And regardless of if it was justified or not, it certainly was a bloodbath.

12 tot 14 people died in Israeli raids in the Gaza strip.
100-150 people were wounded in Israeli raids in the Gaza strip.



and for you Israel supporters...note that even the US is "deeply troubled" by this event.

Yes, deeply troubling, you would think you would get a higher body count with such high tech weapons the jews have.

Even the US is critical of Israel here, and regardless of what the Palestinians did, two wrongs never make a right.

And like anyone cares what Kofi Annan thinks. The key thing here is that the US doesn't support the Israeli actions. This means that nobody supports the Israeli action, besides the Israel itself.

And it's very sad that so many people died or were wounded. Regardless of what has happened in the past, this just isn't right.

I'm Pro-Israel, but damn. They really have to learn that overkill is a bad thing. Sometimes the chisel is a better tool that the hammer. Whatever happened to the use of snipers. That would keep collateral damage down.

I want to see a US or any European army division occupying an enemy city, with gunmen everywhere and boobytrapped main streets. They will burn half of it to the ground from the air even before thinking about entering. And when asked about civilian casualties, they will say that they couldnt risk the troops.

But when the troops are Jews? Who cares, the "civilians" must be protected!

Saint Marcus, I assume your post is made for humanitarian reasons. In that case, you should also mention the motar attack on Jewish settlements from the Hamas located in the camp under attack.

That said, everyone knew that a military attack on Gaza would result in a lot of civilian casualties due to the density of population. So, what is Israel to do with Hamas who attacks it by stealth by hides in densely populated areas?

Why aren't we? The people in the crowd are still innocent. They did not deserve to be killed just because the IDF is too chicken **** to go after him. Would the NYPD get away with murdering a crowd just to get one lone gunman? Why should the IDF?

Lots of evil people hide themselves among civilian populations. Look at the US government for example.

Oh, DaShi:for your information, as shallow as itgenerally is, Koffi has denounced EVERY single suicide bombing, and so has the UN, givent hat this condemnation is already written in various UN resolutions, including the last one. Yous see DaShi, koffi has taken the morally correct point: denounce every death of innocent civilians, no matter the side.

The Sharon government just doesn't get it, does it? Operations like this not only achieve nothing ong term- or even short term, based on what this operation 'accomplished', but at this time, they disrupt US goals. usualy the US would say nothing to Palestinians getting killed, no mattre the number- but since we are oin 'war with Iraq' mode, Sharon is making things difficult, and he may soon get a serious slap from good ol' uncle am if he does anything else stupid like this.

The problem with UN is that it takes no side. So each side accuse UN to be with the other side or to be unefficient. UN could act only if both part are ready for a peacefull resolution.

btw, doesn't Israel have laws protecting individuals? Like fair trials, and presumed innnocence before being proven otherwise in a court of law? Doesn't really seem to be the case, the Israeli governement can point out who they believe is a criminal, and then kill them.
