Okay, a more comprehensive update can be expected tomorrow as I get to know more. I'll write a more in-depth post about the possible motives and the current situation in general. I'm now in a such hurry I simply don't have time to respond to your posts, but at least Winston is clearly on the wrong track now.

P.S. I downloaded the whole "Kotikemian forum", so I might get it working properly again so that we can look at the posts.

Well, on a more serious side, the police has given some new information.

* The bomb was intentionally detonated (there were some rumors that it was detonated by accident)

* The police has taken into custody and questioned several people. Some of them were active at the same Internet forums as the bomber.

* The police, however, still mean he acted alone.

* The motive is slowly becoming clear.

* What kind of bomb was used is still not 100% clear.

No, not that. But if one says it has to do with capitalism and globalisation, I would more like say you're then unaware of the facts or interpet them in a way that doesn't have any public proof so far.

Well, I had the opportunity to check out that forum before it was shut down. IN my opinion this 'einstein' is completely innocent and can NOT be held responsible in any way. If he will be however, that will mean anything you say can be used against you, and taken out of the context when ever it suits the prosecutors. He had legal forum, he talked legal stuff. I believe this is just a media hype and now they can blame the internet, so that's a good one, and I think police knows how it is and is obligated to interrogate him anyway. They're just talking about stuff he might know about this person, not accusing him. At least that's what I think is happening, media is just twisting, playing games and selling papers.

Why do they talk about the internet so much, as if it is the reason why he was so screwed up in the head, and couldn't of done it without it? Why don't they talk about the money they cut from the mentally ill treatment and put people on the street because they can't afford keeping them inside? They said he had some problems, obviously he was not getting the treatment he needed. Depression for example is not taken seriously enough in here. So why not blaming that one? It's easy to blame music and television and now the new fashion scape goat, the internet.

Is the media as a whole really blaming anything or anybody at this stage? Aren't they more in the proces of looking for possible explanations, including factors that enabled him to commit this attack?

THe media is blaming internet and all that. The media is blaming indirectly that guy who is now held by the police.

The police has not established any motives etc, the media has made it clear it was the internet. The minister of interior is now thinking what we can do about the internet and people talking in there.
It is NOT discussed that he was mentally ill, and that it might be a good idea to take care of these people.
They want to limit internet and shut down pages and check out what people are talking, but they don't want to put their money on treating ill people.

The only idiots are the ones who think that someone hellbent on vengeance couldn't have find out this information by themselves. It's public information, and so far there's no way to block it.

Maybe we are, but that doesn't mean (stupid) people won't diss it from the left and the right (not politically speaking, just metaphorically) in the media. It's already starting, mainly by tabloids but starting nevertheless. Stupid people are numerous in Finland, unfortunately.

I remember when wtc happened, and there were lots of smart people in Finland going 'yeahhh that's a horrible thing, but now they are limiting their freedoms in fear, stupid people'.. hmm. If an attack like that would happen here, the same people would want soldiers on the streets forever and kill everyone they don't know. I think society and human nature itself has an extremely hard time dealing with random attacks whose motives can't easily be explained. A certain amount of the headless chicken behaviour will always follow in these cases. Everybody has an opinion and are eager to vent it. Once the facts are uncovered, as much as they can be, things will settle down I'm sure.

In my opinion these 'conservatives' etc (read almost everybody over 30) needs scape goat, they need face to this. They are trying to figure out why he did this, in order to understand it and maybe prevent it happening again.
They can't understand, that these things can happen because someone is sick and that television did not tell him to do it. If there's no one to point, they go crazy.
