Because they can't let the discussion go. It's more important to them than they ever will admit or pherhaps even know.

My take is that he posted it out of scientific interest. If it is ever proven that the Christian Jesus is based on a historical Jesus that would be front page news. Suffering from ads?

How many historical references are there to Mohammed? And do the people who believe Jesus did not exist have views on the existence of Mohammed?

I've never imposed my views on anyone. Most people are unaware of my values or of what I consider norms - the only people who do have specifically asked me.

It took one of my friends 8 years to realise I even had religous beliefs.

Maybe not you personally. But a lot of them wouldn't hesitate a moment to take away my right (I'm Dutch ) to smoke weed, to marry my boyfriend (should i be gay), to decide for myself how and when I die, to have an abortion, to shop on a Sunday etc, usw... Ask Cybershy...

I know that it doens't prove anything.
But I get slightly tired of people who claim that Jesus never existed. Not because of my faith, but because I feel you must be pretty ignorant to claim such a thing.

Pherhaps like other people feel that I'm ignorant about saying that evolution didn't happen

For abortion, but probably against capital punishment.
Again, the model of consistency.
Personally:
1) I think laws against reefer is stupid.
2) I couldn't care less if you marry your Gay buddy.
3) Suicide is a chicken **** way out.
4) Shop till ya drop.

Cool, I didn't read this yet before my first reply.
Did I ever say things like that?

Or is it your 'vooroordeel' that I will think that way?
I'm serious on the issue that we christians *should not* tell others what to do and what to don't.

But if we're in a discussion about things, I can defend my point of view, that's fair, isn't it?

Thats a case of the loudest voice being heard, rather than the most popular opinion. You hear those people because the 99% of the other christians out there are leaving you alone.

Yet you tarnish all of them with the same brush with comments like "Now if all you Christian types stop to try make the rest of us live by YOUR norms and values you won't ever hear from us again".

I suggest in future you stick to the topics raised by the posters of a christian viewpoint rather than your preconceptions of such posters.

You do not know the difference between advocating and supporting, do you?

Really really short sighted in a discussion if you can't split those two, I'm sure, but I can't help noticing that.
I'm very keen on the "don't push morals through others troat" issue.

you say that I did say those things.

How do you dissect and analyse an idea such as "Blessed are the peacemakers", or "Love thy neighbour"?

Stories get twisted and mis-conveyed, but the message is as clear as ever. It matters not to me if Jesus was born via immaculate conception, or whether the wise men were led to his place of birth - possibly in Bethlehem - by a star, comet or other celestial body. To me that is padding. All I care about is the message he brought, and what it represents.

Do you care about the life of Darwin when reading about evolution?

Ok, so the prosepct of an athiest burning in hell doesn't bother you. Reasonably understandable - by the definition of athiest, that's what's going to happen.

The more important question is whether you should be bothered that someone will burn in hell because they are an athiest, whereas you had the opportunity to convince them otherwise.

Does that bother you? It should. It's a central part of Christian faith and living that we should tell others. Ok, maybe you don't have to shove your morality down their throat - but make sure they know you're Christian, and make sure you do all you can to convice them to become Christian if they seem to be willing.

Well I take the view that the way you live is more important than what you believe.

Is Gandhi now in hell because he wasn't christian? I doubt it. You can die in complete ignorance of christianity and still be christian if you display the virtuous qualities of compassion etc.
