Bullshit! Oklahoma is, IMO, a much better team than Ohio State! Just because they have one loss to a team Ohio State did not even play does not matter to me.

If an undeserving team beats an undefeated, all it shows is that the undefeated team wouldn't have been that way if they played the undeserving team in the regular season and THUS does not deserve to play for the championship. Simple.

Teams seem to play down to Ohio State's level. I mean, honestly, Michigan just dominated that game yesterday, especially the first half. But they couldn't find a way to finish, and the Buckeyes took advantage of that. All credit in the world to them; they have that "team of destiny" feel to them, like ND did before the screwed the pooch against BC.

I still don't like Miami's chances of finishing undefeated; the 'Cuse is playing well at home (and weird things seem to happen there), and VT will be playing to salvage a once-promising season. I'm not saying that they are going to lose, but it's probably 50-50.

I think, on paper, Miami, Oklahoma, and Iowa would all destroy the Buckeyes. But Ohio State has been losing on paper for weeks...

Anyway, we need a damn playoff!

Yes... I also think those three teams are better on paper... but that's why they play the games

Yes... a true playoff would answer these types of questions. Instead, OSU will play a single team, and we will never know for sure

Got spare money?

One more wink out of you regarding the Buckeyes might just pitch me over into full-blown rage. No WAY we should've lost that game yesterday, and yet I knew we would after we had to settle for that third field goal...

My senior resident this month is named Ming. He's a bit of a hard ass, too.

Again pray tell just how is a Bowling Green or other upstart cinderella program going to magically be able to command the respect to be able to get a quality schedule together, full well knowing it takes at least 2 years advance notice to book decent programs.

The answer is they really can't. So as a matter of course you wish to penalize them or marginalize them into a lower division.

Don't continue this ranting of quality of schedule when its something largely out of the control of the smaller schools. I for one would love to see a cinderella story like a Marshal or Bowling green be able to come from no where and knock of a perenial power. But what you advocate relegates those programs to an abyss where that can never happen. This to me is the ultimate unfairness and says worlds about the importance you feel of the accomplishments of a regular season. (Accomplishments of the so called 'elite programs' are the only ones worth considering)

Not only that but these teams play in weak conferences. You can't really easily up and leave the MAC and decide you are now going to play in the Big 10. It just doesn't work that way! And since it doesn't, the Bowling Greens of the world DO NOT have their regular seasons count.

Bullshit. Once more for emphasis... Bullshit.

There are many teams at Bowling Green's level that play top-quality opponents in their non-conference schedule. Look at Troy State, Southern Miss, Fresno State, Central Florida and other mid-major schools and then try to tell me with a straight face that Bowling Green can't schedule real opponents.

Nebraska had to play D-II McNeese State this year because they couldn't find a D-I school willing to come to Lincoln. The Huskers would've jumped at the chance to schedule Bowling Green, if they would've had the balls to come here. But why play a tough schedule when people like you and Ming are willing to make excuses for their cowardice and will still give them a chance at the national title? Pathetic...

Put an end to popups!

The only bullshit here is your position, Drake. You also seem to forget that MANY D1 teams will NOT schedule teams like Bowling Green, Fresno State, and BYU because they play in conferences which mean they are rated low but are very dangerous.

The only BS is the BCS.

We want a playoff now!

Schedules are usually made two years in advance. The reason why Nebraska couldn't find anybody was because nobody had room on their schedule anymore.

You keep bringing that up as an excuse that it's easy to schedule a game against a national power. You are sadly mistaken. That was an anomaly, not the norm.

But then again... since you seem to consider a relevent regular season as important... and you want fairness, but every post you make goes against those concepts, it's no surprise you would continue to bring up an exception, and try to use it to prove your version of the truth

Way to prove your statement, Imran. Just because you say it's so doesn't make it true. I gave a specific example to back up my argument; am I out of line in expecting the same from you?

Then how did Troy State and Utah State get on Nebraska's schedule this year? If it is so hard to schedule good non-conference games, then how do you explain Troy State's insane schedule this year? It is not an anomaly, only the result of real, ballsy scheduling. Stop making excuses.

A specific example, you say no one wanted to play Nebraska so they had to schedule a DII team?! Really, and that is proof?

My example is BYU a few years back. They wanted to schedule the major teams, but they refused by those big teams because the big teams were afraid of their offense and afraid of losing to them. That's why they were left out of the BCS when they were undefeated. Because no big D1 team out of conference wanted to play them.

Tired of ads?

You are the last person to be defending the silliness they call the BCS... there is a reason why you are alone now. You are the one that can't see reason. You are so busy foaming at the mouth, you can't even see reason anymore.

I've talked to Athletic Directors from those schools you call cowards... And they say they would LOVE to schedule a game against a power house. They are willing to go on the road to do so. The payday from such a game would fund a lot of their programs. But alas, they claim it's almost impossible... Do you even know an Athletic Director... ever talked to one before...
I doubt it

They had to play a D-II team because TCU pulled out of their contract at the last minute when they determined they would have a good team. TCU didn't want to risk a perfect record by playing a real opponent. I wouldn't either, with idiots like you out there who'll defend that sort of action.

BCS working swimmingly?

Texas is better than Ohio State. Has Ohio State played Oklahoma?! Didn't think so!

Because there isn't a playoff. An undeserving team goes to the national championship when there are better teams out there.

Yeah... it happens to work out so I guess there is no need to change it... right... what about next year, and the year after. Plus, you are all assuming that Miami isn't going to lose on of their last two games

Yes... DanS... indeed funny, and entertaining... but this is reached 500 or will in another post or two. So since it was your thread that started it... start Part II and include a link this one so the entertainment can continue.
