From Hastragal Gisgar
To Supreme Leader Togas
Your Supremity,
I imagine that you have neither the time nor the desire to hear the endless speech in his defence that the suspect ARNELOS (Hamilcar) intended audaciously to deliver to your Supremity. I have therefore taken the liberty to analyse its content, and this is my report.
1.Excerpt of ARNELOS (Hamilcar) testimony
*I apologize that I have belaboured*
Although Harrapsgar the Shorter, the well acquainted with words of all languages, asked what belaboured could mean, has not been able to tell me whether it means betray or plot, it is an acknowledgment.
*my ambition - something I willingly admit that I possess.*
*the true malignance in many of their hearts** some even may specifically believe that they will be the cause of your failure*
This confirms beyond any doubts all my suspicions on all the others.
*the true mark of one's penchant for loyalty (is) in the inter-twining of one's own self-interest with your own interests. The key is to ensure that (my) self-interests are closely tied to your own interest.*
This is a totally new definition of loyalty: a business deal, nearly fifty/fifty.
*This gives your greatness the confidence to know that I am indeed bound to your side out of a powerful motivator - my own self-interest.*
Rinse and repeat.
*Should I ever, abandon you or commit treason against you, I have reason to know that my honor and the honor of my family will be adversely affected.*
Adversely affected in this meaning is a cataclysmic understatement which borders unconsciousness.
*The decision is clear, I must either side with you and thus be bound to remain with you even should you fall, or I must not be with you and retain my freedom of action.*
Freedom of action !!! The most daring blackmail I ever heard!
2 Conclusion
Considering the above, the previous suspicions, the attempt of blackmail, I immediately shift ARNELOS (Hamilcar) from the category Extremely suspect to Extremely suspect and dangerous.
I have recruited enough Numidian mercenaries to handle smoothly any disappearance you would order.

Hastragal Gisgar does, indeed, amuse me.
I do not see my position in jeopardy, good friends and leaders of the tribe. And why should it be? We all live happily and at peace with each other. We are about to embark on this new journey we call Civilization, and it would do the tribe little good to divide ourselves in a time such as this.
I do not take the suspicious talk to heart.
At this time I feel it is wise to announce that I have chosen someone to act as my second in command, to manage my affairs in my absence and to administer over our tribe when other duties have called me away. That person is none other than Lorenzo Clemente of the Arnelos clan.
I have heard word that Francisco Pizarro of the Tacticus warrior clan seeks to serve as our High Priest. This was a pleasant surprise indeed, as I have not known his family to be the spiritual sort, but I suppose even I can be wrong at times ... although such times are very very infrequent.
If this is true Francisco Pizzaro de Tacticus, then perhaps you should display your true calling to the people of the tribe and help lead us with the wisdom and teaching of the great spirts. Help direct our tribe's growth and study, and help ensure that our people all commune as one.
--Togas
p.s. Perhaps it is time that we start focusing more on Spanish culture and characters, si?

Yes, Great Leader, I do indeed wish to serve in the position of High Priest. Though my family has traditionally been one of great warriors, the gods came to me in my sleep a few nights ago and ordered me to seek this position. Who am I to defy the will of the gods?

P.S., the reason for a Carthaginian Senator was due, I'm afraid, to reading the history of the actual place, which was always run partially by a senatorial system (despite the dictators, etc.), somewhat like Rome, and therefore it was not at all far fetched or out of place. In fact, since we were all tribal leaders, we would have all been Senators for that tribe. I was not aware that it would bother anyone...

Well its fine that Carthage had a senatorial system, but as of yet, we dont. We arent even a full blow civilization yet, just nomads, lol. Maybe the RP of Senators could apply, but I would argue that it Shouldnt.

I think that (most) humans have always believed there is some sort of supreme being, even (or maybe especially) before civilization arose. Maybe technologies such as monotheism show that we then have made an organized religion with buildings of worship, priests etc.

Hastragal will be, of course, missed by all of us. I am very glad that it was indeed squibs, and not squids that Hastragal died as a result of eating. However, we must all ask why he was eating these firecrackers after all, knowing that squib firecrackers are explosive. Of course, the very fact that he was eating SQUIBS and not SQUIDS raises a very interesting question: Without gunpowder, who produces firecrackers and squibs anyway? Well...the fact is that the Gisgar family has been making a strange mixture called 'saltpeter', which has no practical purpose, except to make squib firecrackers, and the only firecracker company on Earth is...THE HASTRAGAL GISGAR FIRECRACKERS & SQUIBS COMPANY. If murder, this leads us to suspect that a member of the Gisgar household was responsible for the fiery end of Hastragal. Terrible...terrible...

I would say that the "factory" concept is too far ahead for ancient ages, except I read somewhere once that the assembly line has been around for that long, just no machines. Since I forgot to kill off Carthalo Mitchell, I'll do it now:
CARTHALO MITCHELL IS DEAD!
He was found stabbed 13 times in the yard surrounding his home. We are all very sorry for the death, which has been ruled accidental by the local judges. (In unrelated news, Spamish Mitchell recently gave the judges a gift of 5 Gold Pieces, nearly all he had, for no apparent reason.) The funeral-oh yeah, we only have Ceremonial Burial now (if that, I forget.) We can't have a funeral. A bloody knife was found near the scene which had "Spamish's Knife" carved on its handle, but the evidence was mysteriously lost in a fire with unknown causes at the investigator's house. (Oh, I know it's not very accurate RP, but hey-Like WarriorPoet (i think) said, "You're not winnign the game if you're not ahveing fun." (C) WarriorPoet 2002. )
In the absence of any male members of the clan left (there were many fights for clan control, ) Spamish stepped up to the leadership position, now controlling the Mitchell clan.
When asked if Spamish would thrust the tribe of Spam thousands of years into the future by simply allowing women into places of power, he said, "Hey, I'm already on thin ice with not roleplaying that obituary right. Lemme do what I want." He continued to bring the questioner "out back for a good old game of 'Deathmatch.'"

Oh great Togas, allow me to serve you in order to prove my loyalty to you! Even the lowliest position would fit me well! IŽd serve you from what like I can to the best of my ability, only to prove that some rumours of me being a spy are lies.
Your greatness is wise like the old wise ones, and surely knows how to distinguish a spy from a loyal servant to your great ness.
