I think every year that I know several girls who would easily beat any of the contestants on show. Do you agree that the contestants are hardly that fine..?

while some blacks are not attractive, so are a lot of whites and assians and hispanics

Big whoop. Boddington doesn't find black women attractive. I find black women less attractive in general, though there are certainly some who I can't deny I would love to... well its all a matter of personal preference. I don't know where the attitude comes in, beauty contestant winners are famously without any attitude. Just a big stupid smile.

For the most part, the black women who win beauty pagents all tend to have white features, like long straight hair, light skin, bone structure... certainly you don't see many posteriors Sir Mix Alot would get excited about. Am I wrong?

Agreed, I wouldn't ban them or anything.

I just think that they are bad because they fascilitate a certain ideal of beauty that is just stupid. In their world, if you aren't tall, skinny, and have 'caucasian' features; you aren't beautiful.

Beauty Pagent girls are, in general, rather good lookin'. Yet, I agree with Boddingtons initial statement. I do see a lot of girls that take the cake, in my opinion, that are not in Beauty pagents.

Beauty pagents exist to give dumb hotties something to do. It is also a hot recruiting bed for Playboy and Porno Movies.

Hell, their "telents" are so lame. "Hehe, I can bend myself into a Pretzel" (That would actually be cooler than some chick trying to sing some aria.)

All they do is walk around and smile, big freakin' deal.

I like girls with more of a figure than most of the girls in these pagents. I think to win your measurements have to be 34-34-34 or something. That ain't smokin!

I agree with Boddington. I am attracted to a wider variety of girls my own race (white) than I am to girls of other ethnic backgrounds. Though I would say there are plenty of girls of other ethnicities that are to hot for words.

The main drawback I find with most beauty pageant contestants is a misundertanding over the use of make-up. Something that should be used to accentuate beauty not something that will create beauty the more of it you put on.

My dislike for beauty pagents goes beyond those simple contests. The media in general preaches a very negative image of what beauty is. Women's bodies are considered objects and routinely separated like pieces of meat. Millions of girls suffer from eating disorders and depression because the media bombards them with these images of what they should look like.

Beauty pagents, alone, aren't that bad. But they are part of an entity that does much more harm to women than people would like to admit.

And? If something/someone supports a cause that is unjust or morally wrong, would that not make that something/someone also unjust or morally wrong?

The mere notion of a contest were the most "perfect" specimine is selected is the epitomy of the entity that you have denounced. It would be impossible to have a beauty pageant in a world that did not prize beauty in a fashion you have stated.

They are prejudice (something everyone here jumps on), superficial, and possibly racist. Above all else the are just plain silly, and serve no real purpose. I don't think I know anyone who get any real entertainment out of them. Besides, I don't even see the contests as entertainment oriented. I don't even know how they market it.
