Tired of ads?

Dr K is correct, methinks; St Leo set these topped threads up and this one includes WW1

Figu, Jim Panse's thread will eventually disappear unless someone tops it, and these graphics showcases are meant as a permanent resourse.

Here's a question: personally, I prefer a single pose for the infantry units in a scenario - do people prefer varying poses?

Any road up, some WW1 Germans

Tired of ads?

Fairline thanks yet again. Excellent and accurate. I think I can use a few in El Aurens.

Poses can be used to convey the type of unit, e.g. garrisons, territorials, regulars, etc. Tech used them in Russian Civil War (deserters vs regular units). They can also reinforce subtle image differences of various nationalities serving the same civ (e.g. that Gurkha unit in EA). EA has over a dozen khaki-clad infantry units, so I've used unique poses to distinguish some of them instantly (e.g. the Turk version of German Stoßtruppen). Have to admit that I've only been half-hearted in my efforts to do these things.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Thanks for the feedback Boco. I agree, unit poses can differentiate between defensive and offensive units, or regulars and territorials etc. I was just looking to be lazy and produce one pose. In light of this, I've varied the poses (slightly ) for these WW1 units.

If there is any demand, I can do the Russians, Turks, Commonwealth troops and minor nations. With the planes and Nemo's tank, all that's missing are some decent WW1 artillery. Any takers?

I think I'm right in saying that the Entente Cordiale was a declaration signed between France and Britain only. Russia was tied to France through a separate alliance, I think

Some elite WW1 infantry: a Highlander, a Zouave and a Stormtrooper. The Zouaves actually wore their traditional 19th Century costume, at least at the start of WW1

I've changed precisely 4 pixels on these units. I think that probably makes me analy retentive, but they were bugging me, OK? PS special prize to anyone who can tell me which 4 pixels, 'cos I think I've forgotten.

Methinks you have made colour changes to the triggers of the first two's guns?

Ah, well, the Franco-Russian Alliance was called Double Entente AFAIK, so I thought you meant 'Entente' generically.

@ Curt. OK it's the Zouave's face I changed. In the original his hat was covering his forehead. Sad that I should care really

@El Awrance: I've learned something there. I thought the 'Entente' referred to the Entente Cordiale

@Jimmywax: already making up the other units, but I can't post yet as they are for people's scenarios

Thanks, Dr K.

I've also been playing Allard Hofelt's 'Riverwar', which is a fantastic take on Kitchener's expedition against the Sudanese Mahdists, culminating in the Battle of Omdurman. I made these units up as a more accurate reflection of the uniforms worn, although the original units by Alex Mor, Nemo and Allard Hofelt are excellent.

Tagged on some Abyssinians as well.

How many different ways can we say great work, Fairline? Seems you have Featherstone's book. Will you take a shot at the gunboats? I read they were used 16 years later...

RW was the scenario that hooked me on design. Lot of creativity went into it.

How long does it take you to make an icon? Must be a fraction of the time of us mortals.
