Put an end to popups!

Pity that Kach is banned? Not so bad... You can still vote National Union...
Or Likud for that matter, difference mostly in amount of lip-service paid to Reason

Pity about Hadash as Azazel said... Maybe I'd have vote Balad if I could (People's Democratic Union) but they're too nationalistic (arab) as well. Oh well what does it matter anyway - I've some three months to go till 18...
And I prob. wouldn't have voted anyway...

Balad is an arab nationalist party. "National democratic Party".
go ahead vote for them. I wouldn't be surprised if you vote for them. This isn't the least logical thing you ever said.

Well, it's funny how they think that if Israel would come back from the territories, peace would immediately follow. their welfare agenda is cute but not smart. for example, they demand an increase in education funding, but this days education funding in israel per capita is actually one of the highest in the world. It's the poor organization and smartass "learn Math with building blocks" programs that caused us to drop in the ratings in the last 15 years. I know. I am a victim of this system. What we need is some good old-school textbooks, like the ones in Singapore, more funding to Gym classes to increase the health of the population and more funding to eliminate all payments for school.

How your anarchist-socialist world works is beyond me, anyway.

god, i had hoped that young, more or less intelligent and informed people wouldn't vote for the most right wing parties.

in the rest of the world, intelligent people usually vote for moderate parties, seldom left or right extreme.

why are some of you (israeli) guys here so extremist?

Most of what I've seen suggests this still isn't likely - most of whats being lost by likud is being gained by the extreme right and moderate parties and not labor - ie, people still agree with Likud, even if they might disagree with the certain individuals in that paty - that doesn't seem like a very good recipe for Labor to win.

Ha. Do you know how many percent of the young Jewish people(18-~30 or 25, I dont remember the poll) vote for the Labor? 2%. Yep, two percent.
The Likud gets 40%.

The middle class in the US usually splits it's support between Democrats and Republicans (it was split right down the middle in the 2000 election, IIRC)

I don't think it's fair to label either party the "party of the middle class".

Hah! I don't believe that for a minute. Think about it. There are very few rich. The working class is highly Democrat. So are the minorities. And yet, Republicans are half the country. The middle class in the US is Republican.

Quick question:

So arabs constitute about 20% of Israels population, right? And arab parties have 8 seats in the polls, out of 140? 8/140 = 6%. So what are the other 14% voting for? Or are they not voting at all? Why? BTW, what was the total turnout last election?

Gnu :
They either boycot the elections of the zionist entity or vote for the Labor. 40% of the Arabs who vote, vote for them. Which, in the current state of conditions means that more than one third of the Labor voters are Arabs. This shows exactly how much they had fallen.

I´d vote for any party that had a viable solution to the palestinian situation. A party that is committed to peace and will see to both israeli and palestinian interests. A party that is willing to turn a new leaf and end the bloodshed.

Is there such a party?

(Well, not much marxism in that. But I think the situation is way beyond political dogmas, both leftist and rightist. It´s time to take the humanitarian approach IMHO.)

1)there are 120 seats in the parliament.
2)muslim arabs, descendants of the phalachs and the town dwelling arab population are around 12% they're the ones who vote for the arab parties, mostly. The Beudins and the Druze vote for the general parties, in the case of the druze, are also conscipted. There is also the arab Christians. together they form around 17%-18% of the population.

cute. but I don't see real solutions. Do you really believe that Israel alone can make an end to the violence? It takes two for peace, it takes one for war, no matter who do you believe is the MAIN cause of violence, It's obvious that there is violence from both sides.

A funny vote about Hadash, and it's arab members. :

lately, there was a meating scheduled between the Hadash leadership, and some activists in the gay/lesbian community. Guess who didn't come? the arab memebers. Obviously, the arab members of the party, are as communist as Ronald Reagan, and are still guided by the traditionalist mentality of hating the gay, opressing the woman, etc.. It was rather funny to try and to justify posters on indymedia.org.il that piggish behaviour. "they're under a lot of constraints. We shouldn't forget that the arabs are the real victims... " yeah. the real victims, pushing jobs to their family members, corrupt leadership of local authorities. Way to go, "commies"!
