Do we need / want one? It might help the role-playing aspect, if we know where countries are. If you think we need one, then everyone who wants to be on the map can give me the name of their country and I can try and throw one together. I was making one of my own country a little earlier, and it's a little bare as yet.

(Map attached - Isle of Lodoss circa CY -10 (Commonwealth Year -10). The Isle of Lodoss is the main island of the commonwealth, located to the south of the Apolyton mainland. Other islands in the commonwealth include the Doujin archipelago (Series of 3 small islands to the south east of Marmo) and Terribi islands (Pair of islands to the east of Allania).)

Major Cities: Roid, Kanon, Allan, Doujin (Doujin Islands), Sonii (Terribi Islands)

N.B. Many cities pictured in the below map no longer exist, having been razed during the Chaos Wars preceeding the formation of the commonwealth.

The Republic of Tupan

550 000 square kilometres

Capital: Megawiri (Southwest) - 2 million
Major Cities: Atanea (North) - 800 000
Itakwan (Northeast) - 527 000
Sakanya (East) - 1 450 000

The Western portion of the country is a desertic region (Tsapuma desert) with some mountains and hills (the Phaglon Mountains).

There is a luxurious forest in the South (Maenkra Forest), which occupies most of that region and is home of our jaguar population.

Sakanya is located near a big lake, the Ekwan Lake.

Major rivers: Megawiri River, where the capital was founded;
Lawan River, which starts in the Phaglon Mountains and ends in Ekwan Lake.

Major landmarks: Phaglon Mountains, Forest of Maenkra and Ekwan Lake, plus the Temyan Mountain, highest in the Phaglon Mountains (4728 meters).

Detail: Tupan is a landlocked country.

Mostly prairie with a mountain range seperating it from the rest of 'Poly. Similar to a modern day Chile in many ways including narrow, long area.

The Federation of Redfern

A small but highly urbanised Island country of 73 million people (as of 16th Jan 2003). The coastal capital city, Red City, has a population of 20 million, with the other two largest cities, Red Lake (built on a lake of the same name) and Red Rivers (built on the river which flows through the country) each contain around 10 million citizens.
The land is almost completely flat, and 96% of the population live in urban centres.

Akiria is a large island (we have 209 Million people at the moment), just off the northern coast of Akiria, where it is cool. Although quite a way from CFC, we are close to most of Akiria.

Once it is done, we ll let you know.
I suppose Hispanica will border the Apoliton Region.

Here's what I have done so far, showing the nations presented to me as of my last post in this thread. I'll start on the other ones today or tomorrow. This might actually work, provided I don't get requests for all one-hundred odd nations.

Since the Apolyton region is arbitrarily large, I might spread it over more than one map file for ease of attachment and handling.

Comments, questions, death threats welcome.

I apologize for the low quality of the picture. I made it in Paint, which seems to like to create BMP files, but ordered it to save the map as JPEG, which screwed up the color and added some interference.

The Dominion of Noosland. Some sketchy details:

- Southern part is subtropical climate, northern part is temperate.

- Lots of little islands dot our coasts, with island chains stretch all the way to the tropical regions. The southern ones are coral reefs.

- An imposing mountain range guards our northern border.

- The glaciers of the mountain range melt to form the biggest river in Noosland, River Noos, which runs north-south. It has a large number of tributaries. The southern part of the Noos is a large delta with a significant swamp area.

- A large desert, Fouyuanpuan, occupies our western parts.

- Another river runs from the mountains to the desert, ending up in an impressive salt water lake, Lake Gubin.

- Several large bays line our eastern shores.

- The largest city along the eastern shores, New Xianxiu, is a large port.

- The capital is Noosphere.

Well, that's odd, because I've never even heard of Battletech. It's actually derived from the symbol of the Imperial Fists in Warhammer 40 000.
