Germany - Diplomacy:

To France (secret): We considered that when we were drawing up the agreement, but we decided against it on the grounds that it was liberated by our allies and it would represent a betrayal of their sacrifices for us to hand them over to another nation.

Germany - Economy:

Practically every aspect of the German economy has now been computerised, including the stock exchange and the media. This has resulted in a significant increase in the efficiency of production. Several german firms are working on a technology that will allow for communication between individual computers over a vast network (i.e. the Internet).

Germany - Internal Affairs:

General elections were held today, and the social democrats seem to have made a major comeback, winning enoug of the vote to establish an absolute majority. However, policies from the last administration are remaining in place.

Indian forces have completely withdrawn from South Africa. Partial demobilization is underway and many soldiers called up have been put back in reserve, but military research continues, specifically with missile and projectile technology, which will, in 5-10 years, result in a primitive missile shield system. (There is accompanying work on how to penetrate missile shields should the need arise, but this has been kept quiet.) A substantial increase in quantity and quality of nuclear and other weapons and delivery systems will be taking place over the next 20 years. Unmanned probes are being launched, set to explore the various reaches of the solar system.

A consortium of German mining companies prospecting in Siberia has anounced the discovery of several large oil and gas fields, along with veins of coal, iron, gold, and many other metals. They have staked claims to the area and are currently appllying to the Soviet government for permission to begin mining operations.

Germany - Production:

All upgrades to german miltiary capacity are now complete, and the miltiary is beginning a three-year program to fully equip themselves with precision weapons and smart bombs.
