My kids got a whoopy cushion in a show bag at the Canberra Show last weekend. This has constituted endless hours of fun for them. They never tire of the noise it makes.

Full PM-box? Change here!

They don't even hide the damn thing, sit on it themselves and giggle.

Burping of any kind is another sure winner. Anything involving poo.....the baby was dunking hankies in the toilet bowl this morning and walking around with them, much to the amusement of his brothers.

Boys will never stop other kids from doing gross things....they get such a buzz out of it.

We have a burping contest in one of the stories. Guess what? One of the producers hates it.

Jeez these people don't sound like they know a lot about kids - I fear for your project.

For example if the baby is eating snails in the garden I can always rely on my boys - to find more for him to eat! They'll just stand around and egg him on.

Another interesting area is doing dangerous and stupid things. If there's a way to make something dangerous, they will find it. I think every male child was born with a Darwin Award nomination. This morning the baby was trying to drink ironing starch from the spray bottle.

Christ, my life with these little guys.......

It's fairly typical.

The Australian Broadcasting Authority polices - strictly - what can and can't be shown in terms of dangerous situations. If there's a whiff of a possibility of a kid in the audience copying the on-screen situation and doing itself an injury - it's out. For that matter, on-screen kids can't be seen to be arguing with or bucking authority figures, and if on-screen kids happen to do something wrong during the course of an episode, they have to be seen to suffer some penalty for it. Presumably this explains why we have so many pre-pubescent psychopaths running around.

Actually, it's more the good old bumbling bureaucracy. We could never make here some of the stuff they make overseas for kids.

Geez...over here its all giant robots beating the crap out of each other, or sickening purple dinosaurs with obvious sexually predatory tendencies.
Must admit, my young chap loves Teletubbies, which is fairly good if you can get yourself into a two year old frame of mind (less a stretch for some than others, eh?).
Just make them do "funny" things like stick vegetables up their noses and such...doesn't sound like they've given you much of a palette to work with.

We've managed to sneak some things through. The format is essentially "Lassie" - boy and his dog, and the dog always, somehow, saves the day. But it's a pretty tired old format, particularly when the show's target audience gets off on things like the "Simpsons". I've managed to tweak it so that the boy is always claiming the dog has saved the day, but others around him tell him he's a d*ckhead because that sort of thing only happens in films. And the audience is never quite sure whether it was the dog because I omit key moments. It could be the dog, it could be human intervention.
