It also has a growing Indian community and lacks the traffic and crime problems you find elsewhere. It's one of the best small cities in America, IMO, so check it out.

He didn't mention Nebraska in his post, for good reason. Omaha is a really nice place to live, in spite of every area around it being horrible.

Tired of ads?

Try New York City, I'm sure there are some IT jobs around there .

I was gonna recommend Atlanta, but then I saw the 'does not get too hot in the summer' .

I really can't recommend Vancouver more, having lived there for the better part of my life (although I am currently in Toronto). It's probably the most beautiful city in the world in terms of natural surroundings, it has great ethnic diversity including being absolutely loaded with Asians of all varieties (in terms of population percentages, far higher than any US city I can possibly think of), never gets too hot or too cold (true, it does rain more than I'd like, but the plus side is that you've probably never seen a greener big city in your life) and has a pretty large IT sector.

For Canada, Toronto is where the most opportunities exist in almost every single field, but is a pretty unimpressive city otherwise. The summer temperatures can get pretty rediculous, as can the pollution. The city is flat as a board and the only natural feature of any significance is Lake Ontario, which is polluted beyond belief and cut off from the city by a freeway. Also, the real estate market here is out of control right now. There is an article in a local magazine about it, and it shows a house that was listed for $599k, was on the market for a grand total of 5 days and ended up selling for $725k after a bidding war - and it certainly wasn't a terribly impressive house.

If you are looking at the US, my votes would go to San Franscisco, Seattle and Boston, probably in that order.

In American History -- much to the horror of Anglophiles.

As for California being the dream place -- I hear that Palm Springs is the desert gay mecca.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

If you have beaucoup d'argent (lots of ) move to one of the outer islands in the State of Hawaii. They have a laid back atmosphere...but there's nothing to do.

Unfortunately, our state is in an economic slump right now so you might want to wait until moving.

BTW, why are you moving outta the U.K.? I'd love to live there
Good tasting beer, kick a** socc...uh...football and lots of lovely European females to talk to
