Nasa is a waste of funds! Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Yea I said it!
You gonna crusify me becuse I want accountability for what I feel is the greates rippoff in human history!
Gonna call me names and attack me because I don't think we live in a Star Trek world?
Before you start, know this....I value human life over everthing materlisctic. You don't know me, before you attack/ban me..........think!

What is NASA?
What are they doing up there?
Following a space dream?
What dream?
Whos dream?
What have they contributed to human kind to justify all the funds and resourses wasted?
PC to play video games?Tang? Velcro? Tupperware and styrofoam cups? What is so damn important to risk so many lives?
They can use robots to do the job! ( or what ever it is they do)

Drugs and tellecunication devises to improve human life?
Oh yea, the pharmcutical companies are really thinking about helping people when thay spend all that money on new drug reaserch.
You don't really think they are doing all this space exploration for human kind do you?
Satalites? for the cable and communication companies to make more money.
NASA is out to make a buck!!!!!!
(There are many other examples)

think!!!!!!

can you come up with a few?

I bet this is gonna be proven a cover up!!!

Times gonna tell folks.

" if the congress had given us more FUNDING this would not have happened".( heavy sarcasim)

Good exscuse to git more money eh?

I am just speculating but I think something like this goes on behind closed doors to get more funding.

Why are we looking for life on other planets?
Before we start looking for life out there... should we not be taking care of the life allready here?
Coulda fed many people with the funds wasted on those failed probes to look for microbes on Mars

This is not Star Trek people!
This is real LIFE!, it was just a damn TV show!
I have been told to git a life!
I say "git a life" and do your own thinking.

You a sheep or a thinker?

Why so many people willing to waste funds and resources boggels me.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one asking these questions.

The news reporters are starting to ask these very same questions I am asking

From another post I made I was shocked that so many think the shuttel is a safe ride!
CHRIST PEOPLE!!! this thing killes every 30 to 40 flights!
1 in 75 chance it will blow up or crash on every mission!!!!!!!!!!

They/you call them courages, I call them stupid!

think people!!!!!!!!

Saddens me to see that this is the generation that will be in charge.

Think!!!!!!

please be better than the sheep in office now

Ok, bring on the name calling and flaming
show me how much you can think for yourself and not let others do the thinking for you(sarcasm)

You don't have to agree with me.

just

do you own thinking!!!!

BTW
Im not trolling!
This is how I feel
because I don't agree with you this is trolling?

for Boddington's to say it's a troll says a lot...

Without NASA we wouldn't have:
Cell Phones
GPS
Weather Satelites
Satelite Recon for military purposes
Satelite Surveying

You get the picture. The amount of money that is spent on NASA is insignificant compared to the knowledge and applied science that has come from the history of space exploration.

Naturally, this is a reaction to the Columbia tragedy, so I'll forgive you Doc...

Think of all the lives saved by all the technologies gained by the NASA program and space exploration in general. And also consider that when this planet dies, the human race might be able to live on other planets because of the endeavors of our modern day pioneers.

And I've heard various family members and NASA co-workers give statements like, "Knowing the consequences, they might have gone anyways."

The Columbia astronauts were well aware of the risks involved. Their deaths were not in vain either. We're all going to die anyways. I'd rather die in a space shuttle accident helping out the advancement of the human race instead of being killed by a drunk driver or something. That's food for thought also.

Doc is right. It's a collosal waste of money. That's why nobody else does it nowadays.

That said, the reason why we do it is correct. We will control the technology for humans to get to space. Among other things, it ensures our supremacy in any future military space race. It's strategic spending.

A byproduct is all of the science. In addition, there's lots of feel-good blah purchased with it.

Put an end to popups!

DanS, there are many, many, many, many sectors of the US economy that are huge wastes of money.

Doc: Cell phones do save lives. There are countless untracked statistics of people that benefit from other technologies that have come from NASA research. Stop focusing on one negative issue and look at the big picture.

Why do we have to go into space to do this same research on solid ground?
Because it will only work in space?
Then it won't work on solid ground then.

And yet the counter arguement exists that these types of research would not have been done without a drive to space.

If your point is that these research advances pale in comparison verses the amount expended thats one issue which may be valid, but I dare say the shear plethora/quantity of advances that the private sector has been able to take advantage of and promote the better welfare of mankind, at first brush appears to validate NASA, without even commenting on the larger political arena alluded to by DanS.

There were many scientific experiments that have been done in orbit that would not have been possible here on Earth -- even with artificial chambers of zero gravity here on Earth, the experiments would not be as good as the ones done in orbit.

The space program has set the stage for developments for so many things, it's just ludicrous to question the value. Another one to add to the list is fuel cell technology. Or how about velcro, for something a bit more mundane.

Would we have the Hubble telescope without NASA? Would we know anything at all about Mars or the rest of the solar system? Or do you propose that we just bury our heads in the sand here on Earth and pretend that there isn't a vast universe out there to explore?

Got spare money?

Doc it comes down to a number of issues and how you view them.

On the one hand you seem to be wary of any government endeavor that is used for commercial enterprise in support of private sector making money.

On the other hand you seem to be wary of basic research. I've said before unless some agency/institution is willing to engage in basic research then advancements usually come in the form of evolutionary steps.

IMO industry, private sector has neither the patience nor resolve to embark on long term basic research programs as payback tends to be rather long term. An institution like NASA serves a greater purpose unless you subscribe to the philosophy that "we have discovered all there is to discover" mentality.

That would put you in the smae category as the majority of the 19th century physicists by the way. OTOH, you may be looking at the what has NASA done for us lately. I can not imagine that the agency won't be putting some major PR out soon to indicate their value.

Regardless the best means to stop the advancement of the human species is to stop research. The dissolution of NASA would be a great first step to this goal.

I'd suggest you take your own advise! Or are you trying to imply that robot technology is sophisticated enough that they can even hope to replace humans? For that matter, how far along would robot technology be if it weren't for NASA utilizing it in space? That was the first area where it was used, and now it's becoming commonplace in industry, medicine etc. etc., thanks in part from what was learned in space.

PS I can't believe I'm actually responding to your drivel. I'm certainly glad that your views represent an extreme minority.

I am not saying that we should not explore and do all those things that we don't know what they do.

Can we not do it more cost effective with robots?

Priortize the importance of the mission?

It CANNOT be done, so stop wasting the funds and resorces.
