Multiplayer wont be hosted on Battlenet.
edit:Also the way units turns into blobs when they go behind buildings. Surely there's a more aesthetic solution.

and another point, as far as I can tell, very few have actually played this game yet. I love gaming via PC. modding (scenario making) but I hope this will be the game many of us anticipate
I dont think any should panic, think ctw "Sucks", or kick or yet even "edify" this game..
Lets await and see for ourselves!!!
I have monitored many a forum discussion on new games, everyone gets all hyped up about what it will or wont do, "press releases" come and go, some honest and forthright some eye candy to keep us "Pacified", a lot more , however, are to pacify us. The game gets released and off we go "patching" the game to meet acceptable standards.
Be patient all and soon we shall see exactly how RoN fares with each individual's review

MarkG - Actually, as an old-school TBS player, I love the speed stats. I often have a much lower speed score than my foe. Winning against people with higher speed scores goes to strategy having the ability to win over frantic clicking.

I don't like that CTW is not a MP. I don't like that there is more options for it. But I will live.
Other than that, the game isn't out yet. What am I supposed to say "sucks" about it? I am sure there will be bugs that I am not happy about but even those have not materialized yet so I am just looking forward to this one.

Well I don't like the fact that I'm not playing it right now. Or have a demo/beta.
Another thing is that there wont be a CTW type funtion in multiplayer game (Or maybe they'll implememnt it?) anyone play total annihilation kingdoms. Sadly I did and I loved the idea of contesting areas. Why not have it implemetned in a patch or expansion?

Speedstats = Empire Earth, it's a good way to see if you're learning your hotkeys because it also shows the number of hotkeys pressed.
RoN will probably be a bit more AoE than Civ.
Rushing will most likely dominate the game after a few months, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
The thing I don't like about RoN is the auto transport, that totally ruins watermaps for me. Being able to just treat water like it's land really takes out a level of strategy on watermaps.
Deciding when and where to build a dock and transport is often a very crucial decision on watermaps.
Hopefully they'll change this feature or better yet, take it out.
For those of you who think it's a cool feature because it takes out some of the 'tedious clicking' I'd have to say I find the tedious clicking involved in placing all your buildings at every city much worse.

The rush dominating IS a bad thing, it's what killed AOE for me, i played a few WONDERFUL games that lasted 2 hours which huge 150+ unit battles in AoK, then every other game was rush and loose in 5 mins. How BORING. As far as i can tell the rush won't be deadly in this game if you know how to defend it (whereas there was no defence for the rush in AoK except to rush the other guy faster) but will still be a viable strategy in terms of raiding your oponants econ. It won't kill them, but it will hurt them a little if they don't take steps to stop it.
I can't speak for the building placement, but remember that if you build towers/forts around your island's coasts, any incomming transports will be MEAT to those towers. They can't fight back until they hit the beach and they have very low hit points. Water certainly can't be treated as land. I do like the idea of forcing tranports to be built at docks (so you click in the water and your units go to the closest dock in order to build and get into the water themselves), but not sure if they'll do that.

The fact that you can't rotate. In AOM rotating was an important thing for me. I didn't want to see horrific blobs ruining my immense mountain landscape, so I rotated so I could see my men and the landscape without the blobs.
What'll it be like in RoN when the full version is released?
