I'd like to play as America if that is OK.
I think we shouldn't bother waiting for the Euro patch either. It could take weeks to come out for all we know.

Well, I thought we had reached the point of not starting as teams but deciding later. If we go to, say, 1000BC and decide then there are several possible choices. Someone may have dropped out. Someone may have been eliminated. Teams could be 2:2:3. Someone may be so strong they choose to play on alone.
I am prepared to go with 7 players if everyone else is.
Maps - either we set up three or four starts and play the most popular (doesn't take very long if it is a decision on the first turn) or someone independent checks (and maybe tweaks) the map to ensure everyone gets a reasonable start but not both, that is overkill.
I would go for multiple starts, everyone votes on their initial start and we play whichever we are generally happiest with. If it later becomes a team game a poor or isolated start isn't necessarily the end of the world.
Final comment - can we resolve this quickly and get started this weekend please.

I want to play in teams with equal number of players each - 2:2:2 or 3:3. If we are 8 - then 2:2:2:2 or 4:4 (worse variant). And I think the idea of the decision is to see your team mates, not to eliminate them. Only to be sure there are no separated teams.
Maybe with neutral arbiter will be the best - he will ensure all teams are together and they have reasonably good starting locations.
So, who is still in for the game and who is not?

Fine. What will be the order? Or it doesn't matter?
