Received from Vondrack
quote: Hi, guys!
(Beta, don't worry about the prison... everything is just staged
I am doing massive planning for the coming turn (1255AD) - it will be crucial for setting up our defenses. In 1260AD, the GS hammer shall deal the blow. After going through several preliminary analyses, I am getting optimistic - we seem to be in a pretty good shape. GS failed to "blind" us. We are still able to cover all routes they can use to approach our shores, thus being able to deploy defenses accordingly.
Plus, we have located two fleets of theirs - a smaller one in the South and their Armada E-E-E-E-E of Hurricane (TOP SECRET this is!).
The Armada is most likely to move E-E-E-E-E this turn, getting into an ideal position to threaten Sandonorico and Forkmouth at the same time.
Should GS take Sandonorico (by throwing all their marines at it), we'd be dead that very turn. Dead dead. With all their combat settlers and tanks, they'd be able to crawl all the way to Legopolis and beyond. So
- Sandonorico must not fall. We want to keep Forkmouth, too, even if it does not allow for immediate push into our interior. Plus, we will most likely have to heavily defend some of our Eastern cities, expecting GoW to show up, too.
This, of course, means we need to have us much intel as possible, so that we deploy our defenders in the most efficient way.
Now, we are able to cover most of the Orange Perimeter (that's how we call the line where an enemy transport must be to be able to carry out a seaborne attack at one of our coastal cities). The only small part we do not have covered is just East of Memory.
Have a look at the picture attached. The Orange Perimeter is easy to see. The white lines are suggested moves of our submarines (let's hope the one to go through the strait will not be sunk by the GoW DD). The translucent white lines indicate how far we will be able to see ourselves.
As you can see, there are few tiles outside of our range of sight.
While playing the turn, send a ship of yours to scan these waters, please. If you have nothing else, use V.C.S. Millertown, please (NE-NE-E, snapshot, W-SW-SW). Do not engage anything, we just need to know whether there will be anything to fear - and consequently, what kind of defenses we will have to put into Port Hammer and Castlea.
That's it for the moment. If GoW sinks our submarine currently E-E-E of Castlea, we will have to revisit the plan, as there will be more tiles to spy on for you.
Take care,
Radek |

yah, I agree
I forget (I don't even have Civ3 installed on my new computer) can we transfer troops to them?
it looks as if they are sitting pretty well as far as infantry and artillery go
as long as they don't lose anything they are good

From Vondrack

This is good news. Be so kind and send as much gold as you can - like 900 would be very cool. It's unlikely we will use it, at least not all of it, but it will allow us some flexibility with shortrushing (we're doing lots of shortrushes to get our navy in the Western Ocean on par with GS (numerically), plus lots of tank builds need a little bit of shortrushing, too.
We will return the gold (if still alive) as soon as we enter modern times. I believe we will spend one turn idling then, waiting for your free tech (the extra cash will come in handy anyway) to decide on our next research goal.
This coming turn is unlikely to bring any break-throughs - unless GS make some fatal mistake, letting their ships too close to our coast, allowing us to blast them with our mighty artillery. But I am not holding my breath, GS are no idiots. Most probably, D-Day is to happen in 1265AD, with simultaneous attacks/landings at 3 different points - two in the West, one in the East.
16 tanks on our rooster, up to 11 more ones this coming turn (subject to whether pollution is kind or unkind to us). It's not impressive, but still better than no tanks at all.
More, including an updated map, tomorrow - need to do some business today... this game is threatening to ruin it quickly.
Cheers,
Radek |

Vondrack's response

Every turn is so crucial now... DeepO has got me worried again with
his "update" posted in the public forum this morning ("I can tell you
one thing, Lego. You're not going to like our battle report. Sorry").
They probably broke through the sea wall around Abilene and are now
planning to throw everything (tanks+marines) at the city. But even
that should not be enough to take it. And we would have at least one
less threast (marines) to worry about in the following turns...

800 gold would be, well, golden.
We'll see how the war goes in the following two/three turns - but by
the time we enter modern times, it will probably have reached the
point of break. It will either be obvious we'll lose it or the other
way round.

No problem at all - I just mentioned it because if you had some, they
could be useful to us, but don't worry about it. We're building quite
a few ourselves. It's just that there are no limits to what we can use
now. No need to use Hope to build them.
> Good luck in further turns.
Yeah, we will need it. The war will be decided within the next two or
three turns.
Take care,
Radek

to ZargonX, Tibi, and Vondrack.
quote: Hello gentlemen. I know you have heard it from us before, but let me say how sorry we are as to how things have turned out for Lego. We really were pulling for you; and it went beyond the natural obligation we felt for you having saved us.
But, the game moves on, and we are now trying to tip-toe our way thorugh the diplomatic minefield that exists. We are also wondering what Lego plans on doing next. Do your transports need a safe haven? Do you want a Vox city to work with? Would you like us to try and negotiate a homeland for you somewhere? Or are you on a final suicidal run at GS? You don't need to answer the last if that's what it is, but if you need our help with any of the other options, please let us know.
We are also negotiating tech deals, and so far it looks like we would be able to keep you at tech parity (I am embarassed to say that given our reversed relationship in the past) as long as you do not use the techs to do further dealings with. At least that was ND's position. I am not sure where GoW and GS stand. As I find out more I will let you know.
As I am taking over from Rhothaerill for awhile, please do not hesitate to contact me, or if I am slow in responding, try conmcb25.
Regards - and looking to hear from you. ...Beta. |
