Hey Mike, how many divisions lacking?

I thought six more would be a nice start, but if you're really going to play Win-Occupy-Hold, adding another full size Marine Expeditionary Force might be nice, too. I'm sure we could find something useful for an extra 40,000 jarheads to do.

Carriers and USAF seem to be ok for the moment, but more B-2s and F-117s wouldn't hurt, either.

I'm telling you (yeah, who the f*ck are you to be telling), Phillipines have killed Americans, and harbor terrorists.
Given that Iraq's cruel regime is falling so quickly (even more quickly than I dared hope ), a 2 pronged effort involving BOTH Iran and the Phillipines is certainly feasable.

Really? The fact that they haven't extended significant perimeter defenses is entirely predictable, and regardless of how quickly the war is done, a large portion of the current force will be tied down for occupation duty for a good long time.

As for what's feasible in the Phillipines, ever heard of Wendell Fertig?

If you're referring to the Phillipine-American War, refer to Ozz's post.

If you're referring to the island-hopping campaign of WWII, well, I certainly hope you aren't advocating nuking Manila.

Highly implausible. No country in the region will allow the US to do such a thing. If the US presses on regardless, just like what it is doing now, say goodbye to whatever left of US influence in the region. The RoK base will be definitely kicked out, and Japan won't take this kindly, either.

From where? Out of your rectum? Where will the US stage the troops? RoK? Japan? Both extremely unlikely.

With what? The US is having a bit of a problem with Iraq now, and that's with nice staging areas and bases in the region. As DanS pointed out, the US military strength has consistently been vastly overstated.

Have you gone insane? The second that Japan has a remote possibility of building nuclear weapons, every other country in that region will lay down their differences to put a swift end to this. Even Russia may join in.

How absurd; no one can prevent Japan from getting nukes if they really want them. China better lean on North Korea real quick, unless they want a nuclear rival in East Asia...

Don't bet on it! Both Russia and China have had beefs with Japan since WWII. If they went nuclear, they'd both go ballistic. There would be a very real possibility of war in the region in order to prevent that, especially from the Chinese. No way in hell would they stand for that.

Not that it would ever happen, the Japanese would never go nuclear. They've lost to many people to the bomb already, they would never risk it again.
