In our building at work, when you hit the close door button once, it is a delayed close door, if you press it a second time, the door will close immediately. This is not uncommon in elevators in the US> SO GET OVER IT>

That's not the same as pressing the elevator call button repeatedly, which has NO effect on how fast the elevator will come.

We did have one elevator in college that if you held the call button, the elevator would skip all of it's "pressed" stops and come faster. (boy, would it annoy the passengers that would miss their stop) But yes, normally that is the case.
