Put an end to popups!

curtsibling and Lancer are both right.

curtsibling reminds us of the horrors of war, and war is nothing to celebrate. I, for one, will never forget the tears of that huge father whose children were buried in the rubble of the blast that got Saddam.

Lancer celebrates the end of war--and if there's anything worth celebrating, it is the end of a war especially, when it marks the end of a regime of one of the bloodiest rulers of my lifetime.

curtsibling points out that the war isn't actually over yet...and that may be technically true , but the end should come very, very quickly now.

Yesterday, we were fighting the war.
..Tomorrow, we start the real work of helping to rebuild Iraq.
....But today, we dance in the streets.

I am not challenging you on this.

You are right, getting rid of Saddam's bestial regime is a boon.

But a 'few thousand' people died in september 11th.
Including 'only' 300 people from my nation.
To me, that is not nothing!
All those people were worth a great deal!

Do not dehumanize people.

But I get your point, so let's move on and not argue over this.

Zkribbler, Thanks!

You make it all clear...

You see, Mr Lancer, I am not actually against your view.

I'm just wanting you to recognise the costs. To us and the Iraqis...

But that can be addressed once the people finish and get back to rebuilding...

Suffering from ads?

curt, the purpose of this thread was simple, to celebrate with the Iraqis dancing in the street. As I said before, I mourn and I'll mourn when I choose.

Now I choose to dance!

I normally don't like to dance, but this is much more than I hoped for (which actually makes me fear what kind of autrocities we will discover about Saddam in the near future).

YEAH to the Iraqi people!

This is history. Commentater said it reminded him of the Berlin wall coming down.

ADG, yeah, everything in its time. I think these people have thrown off the fear of him. Saddam without his power...if he still lives.

The Iraqis will get him eventually if we don't get him soon.

Did I say "Look at me on The Statue"?
No. Naturally, it's the Iraqi citizens and coalition troops I'm thrilled for, Curt.
So you're free to cut your pompous remarks at any time you feel is appropriate.

EDIT:
My opinion of the first page (50posts) of this topic:
Lancer is naive.
Curtsibling is trolling.
Lincoln is correct, as almost always.
[/edit]

quote:
This is history. Commentater said it reminded him of the Berlin wall coming down.

Entire the whole war, US citizens have been worried, because, unlike pro-war officials were speculating before the war, people haven't come to celebrate their freedom, throwing flowers to their liberators. Considering that I haven't seen any evidence, some reference would be Pretty Nice (Reg. trademark)

sarcasm:
...and now, remember, if a bunch of people are dancing in a street in Bagdad, that means that the whole Iraq is celebrating the arrival of their freedom and hates the evil, evil satan-Saddam.

Just like then, when a dozen palestinians we're celebrating the death people in World Trade Center.

EDIT2: Is there something wrong with the server? This is the 6th time I'm trying to get this text edited.
