I would try to keep it (eastern galley) out of GOW sight though.
My idea is that they are more scouting for Vox then for us (don't they owe us another screenie btw?)

No need to let vox know our navy is expanding rapidily and closing in.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Vox's galley is going back north still most likely, so it probably doesn't matter what we do with our E Galleys this turn.

On the W, the galley can't have any Pikes on it in less than 2 turns anyways (if then), so might as well uncover as much of the black as possible... maybe get a look at if RP has Galleys watching the crossing or not.

I favour stacking them. It gives us the edge in defensive combat. The furthest they can get with troops is far, far away from anything that counts. BTW, would you load troops and sail past twice your number of Gallies? Stack them at Colony 6 and they are likely to divert forces from the South.

Good plan in the West.

How soon can we divert 3 or 4 chariots to sack d'ville? They are probably just streaming in warriors for the upgrade there.

It will be a bit. They still have 11 healthy immortals within 5 of EotS.

I went ahead and consolidated the galleys 6 from the colony. Vox has a regular spear 2 from the colony (which we were too far out to sea to see before), so even with four medieval infantry, we'd have a very serious challenge.

Exploring in the west, we find that there's an all-sea route between us and RP.

And I went ahead and upgraded our sword to med. inf. That's it for our turn unless we want to try Theseus's attack (which I think he's the only one who supports).

Arrian says no. Theseus says yes. It seems Nathan does not favour it.

I don't want any toes stomped on. Theseus, is this a crucial point?

BTW, Voxes workers arrived on the mountain for our last turn (610bc). That means they have done 1 turn of roading (our 590bc). They will be finished 2 of our turns from now.

It's been over an hour since Theseus posted, so I'm going to leave the turn as is. If our generals were united, I'd go with their recommendation, but with them split, I think going with what the rest of the team seems to favor makes sense - especially since Theseus characterized it as a "gut call" that "just feels right" to him.

WRT attacking with a healthy Medieval vs. Immortals....I'm on the fence, but my gut would be this:

IF the Medievals are positioned such that for some reason, they would be unable to attack the enemy next turn (ie - if we don't attack this turn, we lose the position to do so immediately--should be rare on our own turf, with the advantage of roads--then I would say go for it with gusto.

If, however, we can reach out and touch them whatever they do next turn, and given the current state of our defense (nothing can be overrun this turn), I would say it's not worth the risk. Let's see how they decide to play it....in waiting, we are sure to be presented with a better target of opportunity than an Immortal in the mountains. Better opportunity....easier kill.

I look at it like this.....*they're* the ones in a hurry....they're the ones on a timetable. The longer the war drags out, the more punishing our production advantage becomes.

Since we're not in a hurry, why attack when they are in terrain unfavorable to us? Of course, they cannot be allowed to remain there indefinitely, and should they choose to try, then we should strike them, mountains or no....but when we do, let's take the whole hog.....when we attack a stack, let's not leave any survivors, and if that's not doable, then let's certainly not let them live beyond the very next turn.

Next turn we can begin blasting them. 6 cats per turn (depending on the situation at Arashi). Would not be a pleasant place for them to be.

Was just wondering why we lost them in score. Probably the Collosus... blah. That long in Despotism is going to come close to negating their wonders though.

And if they trigger their GA... are they going to go into revolution only then?

Yes, but if we don't stack them and end turns in sea tiles, noone would risk attacking them, because they'd move into the sea if they succeed. We won't have that advantage if we stack them.

Our being on sea only causes an attacker to end on a sea tile if the attacker has no movement left. Otherwise, the enemy ship can attack and then pull back to a coast tile.

Hmm ... more land. Very interesting indeed.

We need to send a galley over there as soon as we can spare one. Maybe put one spare military unit in it (again, whenever we can do without it). If the terrain is good we could get some usable cities out of the island.

I'd like to see us have 1 city on there at least, assuming the island's of a reasonable size. It could be a good staging post for future operations on Bob.

Maybe there will be a luxury or two over there?

I wonder if RP or Lego have found it yet?
