While I don't think Speer's interest was humanitarian, it must be pointed out that had he not been using those slave laborers (he was persistent in using them), they likely would have been exterminated instead. Speer openly defied orders from Hitler at the end of the war to destroy his factories (with the laborers) and handed his munition plants over to the allies intact.

Speer also repented, and I believe very convincingly. If Weisenthal thought his remorse was sincere enough, I would say that's a good sign of a man who had reckoned with himself and came out better for it.

And I also asked why was 6 million the generally accepted figure when historians usually more accurately say 4-6 million... shouldnt 5 million be the generally accepted figure then?

anyway...

Aside from being a nazi, Albert Speer was a pretty intelligent man as far as I have learned. He was a very capable architect, rally-organizer, administrator, and minister of armaments. really intelligent man who was only in his 30's and 40's during the third reich.

it's a shame that he spent most of his life in prison. a brilliant man.

Originally, you questioned whether anyone was actually killed, since you'd never seen photos or evidence of bodies. After someone posted numerous photos of railroad cars with bodies stacked like cordwood, etc., you then got into nit-picking about the numbers, like killing only 4 million would be a substantial improvement over killing 6. It's a shame so many of the workers under his ministry never got to live long enough to see him in prison, or more ideally, in front of a wall. An accessory to mass murder and slavery. **** anything else, it's all for naught.

I agree sir. I don't understand why some nazis have better reputation than others only because these 'good reputation' nazis are supposed to be more efficient than the others.

And how is any of this holocaust denial? I wanted to know if there was pictures... all you see in textbooks generally is malnutritioned slave workers... never pictures of bodies... so it was legitimate for me to question if pictures existed (which i found out did exist thanks to my inquiry) and there was hardly a Nuremburg for all the slavers and slave traders in America who brutalized 10 million blacks...
