I wouldn't say that Gates' exploits. He is one of the luckiest motherfuggers on the planet. In capitalism, when someone invents or creates something that revolutionizes the way things are done, the money rolls in. I don't want to get into an argument about Windows here... but Gates brought a product to the marketplace that nobody else could provide. You can argue Mac all you want, but if they were really better, the vast majority of comps wouldn't be Windows based PC's.

Believe it or not Xerox came up with the first GUI though Apple quickly stole the idea and brought it to market first with their Mac. Windows was a poor runner up but it ran on IBM based machines so guess who was the big winner.

As I recall Commedore also came up with a GUI for their Amiga machine but some how Amiga just didn't take off. It was to bad to since Amigas were way ahead of Apple and IBM on Graphics; for a while most graphic artists and computer animation guys were using Amigas.

Gates build his wealth as many (and possibly most) of the 50 biggest US fortunes. This demonstrates that the capitalism does not increase endlessly the wealth of people already rich; it consistently redistribute it all over the place. The same phenomenon is observed in Europe.

This is why I think that wealth is not the main problem for the society as it is in western countries, but that how the income is allocated is much more important. The example of abnormal remuneration of executives are so numerous that serious men as W. Buffet (nobody can suspect him to be an ennemy of the capitalism) have expressed deep concern.

Whatever is the talent of one person, somebody or something must remind them regularly that their own efficiency would be close to nothing if they were alone, and that they indirectly depends from many others working here or elsewhere to achieve anything valuable.

They should also be reminded that their performance depends for an enormous part of the fantastic achievements of the preceding generation, and that they have an obligation to tRansmit the heritage in good shape to their children.

I'm not an extremist of any side. Capitalism is good, but shouldn't be the end all of a society. Communism... bad... capitalism... bad... mix the two... good.

Gates and Buffet, the two richest men of the US have declared that they will not let their fortune to their children.

Is is not a nice example of the self-restraint that the capitalism is able to display when practized by responsible men ?

I suspect that Gates believes that the Windows trick will not work twice.

I see Buffet not as a capitalist, but as a genial artisan, like Stradivarius, who will never be equalled.

That's true, and it's a good lesson to learn that your life should be defined by what you do, and your success based on what you accomplish, rather than what you have been given or how you are provided for by others.

The TRUE meaning of Globalization

Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?

Answer: Princess Diana's death.

Question: How come?

Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in
a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a
Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi,
on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian
medicines!

And this is sent to you by an American, using Bill Gates'
technology.

And you are probably reading this on one of the IBM clones that use
Taiwanese-made chips, and Korean-made monitors, assembled by Bangladeshi workers
in a Singapore plant, transported by lorries driven by Indians, hijacked by
Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, trucked by Mexican illegal
aliens, and finally sold to you.

That, my friend, is Globalization!
