Watcha reading?? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

What book (non-fiction or fiction) are you in the middle of reading right now?

I am in the middle of reading the non-fiction book titled, "Look Away!: A History of the Confederate States of America" by William C. Davis.

Yeah, but so are cigarette papers ("Rizla" or "Skins").

As for what book, I'm halfway through a text book on Object Oriented Programming. Not exactly inspiring stuff.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is the only book I'm reading with any serious interest. Shoulda read it years before, but I don't read when I'm depressed, and I used to be very depressed.

Very funny stuff. The book that is.

it's an assortment of articles by a guy who has a very sharp (and critical) way of viewing greek society and politics. i like him a lot.

"apology" is in the ironic sense socratic - like.

Hašek's "The adventures of the brave soldier Švejk". May be the 5th time, or even more.

Eco's "Baudolino". The second time.

Both books, depending on my mood. I haven't much time to read, anyway.

I'm working through most of the Terry Pratchett books that I missed when they were first published. Pretty light stuff just to keep me amused during my lunch break.

Basically I'm just warming up for the 48-hour Harry Potter marathon when the 5th book is released in a couple of weeks and I read the whole thing from cover to cover without putting it down.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Just finishing "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk. After that I'll finish "Galactic Patrol", the second book of E. E. "Doc" Smith's classic Lensman science-fiction series, which I postponed to read "Fight Club."

After that, I don't know... I'm coming off a six-month science-fiction binge (Niven, Orson Scott Card, Vance, etc.) I may pursue some non-fiction ("The Nothing That Is: A History of Zero", "How We Die", or Edward Wilson's "Consilience: A Unity of Knowledge"), and a friend has been recommending "The Agony and the Ecstasy", a 'fictional' biography of Michelangelo.

But honestly, I'm in a dark, gritty mood, so I may read a few crime novels, starting with Stark's "Payback" and then reading his other Parker novels.

Too many good books, and not nearly enough time...

Something about apocalyptic thinking through the ages by Eugen Weber. I mean, the book is by Weber, not the apoca...never mind.

Ajbera, how's Fight Club the book? I've only seen the movie, which I thought was absolutely fantastic.

So do the rest of you actually have like a dozen started books, but then just one or two that you really focus on? Or am I just weird.

Age of Extremes is basically a big book of world history 1914 to ninety-something. But I haven't read much yet; I'm thinking about a switch to the Marcus Wolf self-biography.
