What I would do........ I would make peace with God(just in case he is up there......).

I would then spend whatever time remaining writing a letter of what I thought of what was about to happen, my life etc..... and mail it off to every major news source.

If im lucky my name would become famous, and I might even get my name imortalized in textbooks/the anals of history







Plane wouldnt work, EMP would knock ya out of the sky, not to mention the air displaced.......

First off pack the emergency bag I have by the back door.

2nd, see if the cat wants to come. Knowing him he'd find his own way out of trouble.

Third, run (probably stroll) down to local river just 2 minutes away and await the event with just my head above the water.

OK, I would probably die anyway, but it's the best chance I can think of for myself.

Anyway, Chinese nuke? Small chance I'd be OK if I did nothing anyway.

As long as everybody else doesn't know about this, 30 minutes is plenty of time to get out of the area. I'd get into my car and get on the highway going to the South of Denver, and get moving. Especially given the speed limit is 75 miles per hour once you get significantly South of Denver on the highway, I should be able to get about 45 miles away before the nuke hits its target. Given the lack of developement substancially South of Denver, its highly unlikely that another nuke will hit in the area. Why die when you can get away safely?

If its a nuke, I'm probably screwed. Running away would just leave me with radiation sickness or some **** like that, and I'd die slow rather than fast. So I'd probably go to bed and die peacefully.

Driving away would be worth a shot, though it probably wouldn't work as traffic would undoubtedly be impassable and possibly dangerous in itself as everyone tries to scramble for safety.

Driving into Virginia would like be folly, that'd probably require taking I-495 (the Beltway I live) and that would keep me too close to DC from where I live. I'd probably try driving Northwest towards Frederick, MD. Now, the question would be whether to try I-270, which there would be a good chance it could be impassible, or trying to figure some way out via backroads, though I am not familiar with them around here. Getting to I-95 North could be another option... hmmm...

Of course, that assuming I am at home in Maryland. If I were in college at Pittsburgh, where I have no car and I am right in the middle of the city, it's alot more complicated. Hopefully there would be some attempt at evacuation of the city in which case I would try that, otherwise, there is less to do but start praying, hope that I can get to a priest who will hear my confession and adminster an annointing of the sick in time. It's probably far less likely Pittsburgh will get hit by a nuke then Washington D.C., in whose suburbs I live when away from college.

If it was going to be a full nuclear exchange the best bet is to drive to ground zero and wait...be vapourised in milliseconds rather than, if surviving the blast, have to deal with the radiation sickness, the post-war horrors and sickness, the legions of the injured and sick, disease and pestilence and probably death anyway but far more nasty and lingering...

The reality is China doesn't have many long range nukes, and the US would be mostly intact when the exchange ended. I think its about a dozen nukes currently, even most major US cities would be fine.
