So basically you don't like Berlusconi, which makes his comment abhorrent. I don't remember this sort of outrage emanating from Germany when Bush was the Nazi, so it must be something about Berlusconi that you don't like, not the comment itself.

Sure I don´t like him, that´s right. But as long he doesn´t say stupid things, I don´t care. I do not like a lot of politicians, but some of those I don´t like I still respect. But this guy should improve his own knowledge about democracy before he tries to complain about others. What happens in Italy is up to the Italian people to decide, but this is was not about inner-Italian problems.

If you think I can´t judge objectively about guy I don´t like, then may I remind you on your comment about Schröder in this thread?

And it was absolutely a big deal in Germany what our minister said, otherwise she could be still in office....

I was under the impression that she was fired as a way for Schroeder to mend relations with Washington, not because anyone in Germany found her remarks to be offensive.

The newspapers here were full of this, and they all pointed out that it was an idiotic statement. And all people with a sense for reality thought the same. At this time relations to the US were down anyway (because of the Iraq thing), and there were down still for a time after this case, so this alone doesn´t explain why she was fired.

The case about German minister was a complete joke to me -- a comment of her, made in a bar, was ripped out of context (and even misquoted, for example "she said that georgie is a nazi!" was a common comment, or rather excuse at here then), and suddenly FOXNews made it the official German foreign policy, so Americans could create their "old Europe" concept.

Oh, and if you'll continue speaking Deutsch, you'll probably get banned, so...

Erm, she did say that Bush is using a common tactic in politics which has been used by many guys, then she presented Hitler as an example.

It wasn't an official statement, but German right-wing media made it such, to gain votes in the following elections (and I wouldn't wonder if they would've done so -- as Bebro said, public wasn't charmed).

It seems that most Americans thought, that the left-wing gained from her comments, and she's still as a minister.

I have no problem saying Bush has used and his still using scaremongering tactics, in order to get support from his population. A well known political tactics, which has been used by many including Hitler.

I'm surprised that he used the word "nazi" -- I've been under the impression that Berlusconi has protected with his own hands from evil communists, which lurk at every month to gain the power of Italy and terrorise the common citizens, everywhere.
