Thanks
How does that work in my case? Suppose apprentice level = 0, so shouldn't I have level 1 in either monk or druid plus level 0 in the other? Then when my character moves up to level 2, he could progress to either 1+1 or 2+0. Does it work that way?

if you do multiclass ata first level you are apprenticed to two classes
than on second level you become 1/1 (1 level in both classes)
think of third edition multiclassing as more similar to dual classing in 2nd than multiclassing in 2nd
also I no longer have access to my books, so it will take me a bit longer to come up with my character's specifics

my character is going to by a rogue/wizard(illusionist)/gnome artificer
she will be human (Lantan) or a gnome (I would prefer human, please tell me if this plan is not possible)
first level will be rogue
stats will be
Str 10 0
Dex 14 +2
Con 12 +1
Int 18 +4
Wis 10 0
Cha 8 -1
if human will have two feats, they will be lightning reflexs and skill focus : craft (weapon making)
skills will be (20-28)
alchemy 4
craft weaponmaking 4 + 2(skill focus)?
craft armorsmithing 4
craft metalworking 4
disable device 4
knowledge (architecture) 4 - maybe not these two
knowledge (engineering) 4 - maybe not these two
profession (apothecary) 4
so I would have another 20 skills to choose (28 if I need to wait for the two knowledge skills until next level when I take a wizard level)
appraise 4
use magic device 4
decipher script 4
forgery 4
search 4
these do not include modifiers from attributes, please tell me if I need to do something different about the knowledge skills (can I save skill points to use when I take the wizard level next level??)
I might also be changing skill focus weaponsmithing to something else (and take it third level, I think that I cannot become an artificer until 4 level by any means)
saves will be +6 reflex (2 base, +2 dex bonus, +2 lightning reflexs), +1 for Fortitude, +0 for will
bab is 0
has +1d6 sneak attack damage
HP is 6+1 = 7
weight is 33, 66, 100
initiative is +2 from dex
I will deal with money and character history later

OK, I do have some stuff here, but I need some help, too. Sketch thus far:
Name: Dolor
Race: Elf
Class: Wizard (need help with specialization)
Stats, apparently
Stength: 13 (5 points used)
Dex: 10 + 2 racial (2 points)
Con: 10 - 2 racial (2 poins)
Int: 18 (16 pts)
Wis: 13 (5 points)
Cha: 10 (2 points)
Can someone please check if I got these correctly, with my race?
I also now need help to determine my HP and the rest.
Questions: should I alter it to give the Wizard a higher Wis ability? As for feat, I will chose one, I guess I'll also get around with skills somehow. |
the wisdome for a wizard can usually be low
str can usually be low to unless you want some sort of fighting wizard (like a arcane archer or spellbalde or whatever)

At first level you'll be either Monk or Druid, not both. At second level you can add the other class. Your HP will thus will only 10 to start (8+2). Your saves are Fort +4, Reflex +6, Will +3.
Skillpoints for either Druid or Monk are (4 + Int modifier) x 4. Which is 12 skillpoints with your 8 (-1) Int. However, since you are Human, you get 4 additional skillpoints at 1st level, putting you at 16 points total.
Every character gets one feat at 1st level, and humans get a bonus feat at 1st level, so you have 2 feats to choose.

I read in one of the posts that I could be both at apprentice level when my character is at 1st level according to the DMG or some such. If that is not correct, I'll change it.

Thanks. In fact, the only thing I gain this way are more hit points I think. I can only have 1/2 skill points IIRC so everything evens out at the end.
I may want to bump my INT up one. Decisions, decisions.

like what I was going with when I created my character
I wanted her to be an artificer
so she needed to be good at creating things
she needed to be smart
she needed to be good with her hands (dexterous and lightning reflexs)
she would be good with devices but not with people
average in most other things
her skills came down to ones that assisted her with playing with devices or helped her play with devices or learn about devices (I am not entirely sure that I like all the skills right now, I might change some)

you can
but you don't gain HP from both classes or skill points form both classes
I think you pick one class to be your primary class and gain it's skillppoints and HP but I could be wrong (no longer have the books with me)

never heard about a +10% XP bonus
and I don't think it is possible to get a 14 in everything with 32 points
