We need to have three polls to decide on some issues that have been coming up.

POLL A) What should we do about the bonus points for games that are played with PBEM mods that speed up the starting position.

I recommend the following poll options

1 - same bonus as any other game.
2 - bonuses are 7 for < 100, 3 for < 150.
3 - No speed play bonus if MODS are used.

Let me know by this time tommorrow if we need another poll option for POLL A.


POLL B) Can a player restart?

I recommend the following options.

1) No Restart Allowed.

2) A restart will be allowed under certain circumstances.

For this poll I recommend 1). I think that the bad starting positions will even out in this large of a tournament. And, some players may have already made many moves in positions that they think are bad.

As for certain circumstances, we will work this out if the "restarts allowed" option of the poll wins. Certain
circumstances will probably provide for the number of
restarts allowed, how many turns into the game to allow
a restart and possibly other stipulations.

Circumstances must not depend on whether the opponents agree. Either it is allowed or not. And it is allowed every time under the certain circumstances to be determined later. Many players (nice guys) would be very unlikely to forbid a restart even though they disagree strongly about it.

Let me know by this time tommorrow whether we need another option for this poll.

I'd suggest another option for poll A: I guess, using PBEM ModLite provides a speedup of around 50 turns, so a bonus could result for winning in less than 50 turns and 100 turns respectively.

I sent him turn 2 in our 1x1 game 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything from him since.

it be mentioned though, that i am recently using the mono-english version of CTP, since Hatschy was so kind to visit this section of the galaxy and bring it to me from beyond the great nebula.

I play you in such a game but I will have to meet you first. Have you tested it before? I tried once to put a custom civ in a game I moderate when I first started it and had problems with it. I had little time and needed to start it so I didn't further investigate it.

im using custom civs for quite a while, usually for all the games that i start. i had some trouble with modifying the text files before and blamed them on other changes i made to the text files.
but the problems with the diplomacy screen appeared late and relatively sparse.
but maybe just few people cared to tell me...

So I guess the annoying localized messages that people usually get from players that run localized versions of CtP in PBEM will no longer apply to you

Everyone should probably email pave and pacman to let them know what you think the status is. Send them the games you have started against them, and if they are supposed to start, send the email asking them to start.
