	I was just mugged! Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

About forty minutes ago, i was walking on germantown and about johnson when this one guy about my age asked me if i had weed and i said i didn't and i continued walking and he followed me a couple steps behind and then ran to me and grabbed me and pushed me against a lap-post and another boy ran over and started beating my face demanding weed... and he was big too and beat me bad. i gave them my wallet that had 50 dollar bill in it, four or five twenties and a couple fives and ones and they stole my cd player and ran off to some car and drove off.

a couple blocks away, i saw two policemen who drove me to where these other males were being arrested and asked me if they were them but they weren't... then the cops took me home...

god damn! i'm mad as ****! i lost over one hundred dollars and my cd player! thank god my check card was outside my wallet! all cause of some ****ing weed!

god damn this my ****ing neighbourhood! thats it i'm ****ing buying a gun with my next paycheck

but the thing with the gun was that the guy snuck up behind me and grabbed me keeping my arms to the side and then the other boy came... a gun wouldn't have done much of anything but i think i'm still going to buy a gun... whats a low price gun i can get and what kind of store can i get it where i know it's legit? do k-marts and wal-marts still sell guns?

yeah chegitz i talked to the two cops and they wrote it up... won't do nothing though... it was 12:50 am or so and it was dark, i didnt have my glasses on, and its hard to get a good description in a situation like that... two black males, one with a scraggly beard... thats all i could tell.

Start walking through a different part of town if you can.

Maybe you looked like you were a regular druggie--make sure to dress so that people DON'T think you're high all the time.

Put on some buff. People would be more likely to attack Bill Gates than Vin Deisel.

Walk with friends. Strength in numbers--hell, you learned that lesson from him! He got his friend out on you instead of doing a one-man job! Cheap muggers, can't even take down a guy by themselves.

My local Wal-Mart sells a bunch of hunting guns. I don't know really exactly everything, but they probably don't have these huge aisles of self-defense guns or something.

Does Philly have hidden weapon permits though? You could get in just as big **** if they found out you had a gun and you weren't supposed to.

The Answer is not a Gun, as you said it woudnt have protected and could have only have lead to an escalated situation.

Be Vigilent, Dont dilly dally and walk with Intent making a point of being alert. Most of the time Muggers will want a sitting duck, not an alert,vigilant target who may be able to flee and is more likely to put up a fight.

Dude, seriously though, I sympathyze with you. I was outta my head when I was attacked. Put some ice on your face and keep it there. I know you want to talk but you should probably lie down and try to relax if you can.

Being attacked has changed me. I used to not have my guard up when walking or riding into my apartment complex at night. Now I get defensive and put my guard up anytime I see a poor looking person, especially one who is Black. It's nothing I think about, it just happens, cuz the garbage who attacked me were poor looking Black thugs. I know it was an aberation, but I got lucky. They could have had a knife, a gun, or a pipe. So now I'm scared. And I live in the ****ing boondocks.

OK, fine. Let me qualify my position. I believe that carrying a concealed firearm will help to enhance your personal safety. I believe that in many areas, concealed firearms are illegal. Therefore, only get a concealed firearm if a)it's legal, or b)you don't care.

David... like i said, the two guys had surprise and they knew what they were doing by grabbing me so my arms were locked to my side... i couldnt do ****...

And it ain't the weed's fault you were attacked. You were attacked because they were people who didn't respect you and think that violence is an acceptable method of getting what they wanted. My attackers wanted my bike or my money. Should I hate money, bikes, and the low lifes who attacked me.

Damned if I know.

On second thought, I wouldn't recommend a handgun unless you can afford a nice one, as well as relevant handgun safety classes, and regular practice.

I would recommend realistic self defense classes - pinned arms aren't necessarily a problem.

chegitz, i live in inner city philly... how the **** can i be alert for poor black people?! everybody is ****ing poor black people! and damn i knew people who did little crimes like this and i never thought it would happen to me cause i'm around the way and **** but damn... ****ing *******s and i know i'll see them again walking down the street before i know it and what the **** can i do

It's a sad thing, but you just gotta be alert when walking late at night.

I know Derby isnt exactly a danger area but I am out late at night a lot alone on foot or cycle - I think walking fast with intent is the best way, as well of making your journey quicker too leading to a lower probability of attack.

It's also reasonable to maintain a safe distance from other people, in unsafe areas, especially at night. If you see someone approaching you, casually move away. Be constantly alert, looking around you, walking quickly and with confidence.
