My issue w/ACS; Awhile back, when I posted something on the community forum, a mod accused me of doing/being something I wasn't. When I proved him wrong, he decided to be obnoxious and insulting, rather than apologize for being wrong. I sent him a PM which let him know how I felt about it. I didn't pull any punches. At that point, one of the owners contacted me and sarcastically asked, "if you're going to do that, why come here?"
My response to that was simple, easy, and permanent.
I don't go there anymore.
AFAIAC, this is the SCENARIO LEAGUE forum. If you'll look, you'll discover that I don't go to any others. The obnoxious mod in question didn't have any mod powers here for quite some time. Now, apparently, he does, but I seldom see any participation from him, for which I am pleased.
If I were face-to-face with this person, I have no doubt whatsoever that the problem would have been resolved. It would probably never have arisen. As it is, there are far too many people like him online who feel they can treat others badly, and that, due to the distances involved, there are no consquences for this behavior. It's cowardice and stupidity on their part. I have no time for stupid cowards.
In sharp contrast, the site managers of both the Spanish Civ2 site and the CivFan site have been exemplars of courteous, friendly, and helpful behavior. Special thanks will always go to Jesus' Balsinde for his intial tolerance, understanding, and willingness to help, but also to several other gentlemen who frequent that site. Thunderfall on CivFan is also prompt, friendly, and eager to receive the files I send. He was also willing to create screenies without me saying a word about it--a very pleasant surprise. These two gentlemen set a shining example of how a Civ2 site should be administered. They have my loyalty because of that.
The files have been sent to both the Spanish Civ2 site and CivFan. Download them there.

Ok, as far as Glasgow is concerned; See how few squares there are in the British Isles on this map? In the context of this scen, Britain MUST be a premier industrial power. SO, it was essential that ALL the squares available be utilized. In order to facilitate the use of all available squares in the interest of creating GB's industrial potential, I had to place Glasgow where I did.
I just love it that all you guys are soooooooo willing to correct me, but perhaps you should take a peek at AoW. Are the cities in Scotland placed to your satisfaction in that scen?
I bet they are.
And as far as Greece is concerned--take a look at the ImpRead file. IIRC, seems like I did place a disclaimer there about certain cities belonging to whomever--in the interest of playability. Does anyone EVER read that stuff?
When it comes right down to it, I run up against the limitations of the Civ2 engine over and over again;
I'd use an even larger map--if I could find one.
I'd place every major city on every continent--if 255 wasn't the limit.
I'd make each and every nation its own civ--if I weren't limited to 7 and barbs.
I'd make the RR and oceanic movement more realistic--if the program didn't do weird things when I did.
Civ2 is the only canvas I have, at present, to paint upon. When a better one comes along . . . I'll use it.
Now, please stop carping about minutiae and just enjoy the damn scenario.
And I haven't voiced one word of complaint about all these WWII scenarios that are currently glutting the Civ2 world. Until now. Um, how many WWII scens do we need? How many are truly unique? How many are simply rehashes of prior scens with a passel of new super-cutesy Nemo graphics? For my money, if I wanted to play a WWII game, I'd just load up Axis and Allies. Civ2 is an infinitely flexible template and is therefore ideal for creating games that deal with rare topics and periods. How many Franco-Prussian War scens are there? How many Peloponesian War scens are there? How many 30 Years War scens are there?
There is fertile ground out there, but very few of us seem to be sowing it. Instead, too many are plowing up the same tiny plot of ground--over and over again, like rabid groundhogs.
end rant. lol.

Wow!
Hey! There's no need to intensify defence shields, Captain!
To be frank:
I reckon Glasgow could be in its proper place and still have big factory output.
Exile, but a bit of feedback is what this thread is for.
I am not 'carping'...
I am making a valid point that my home city is several clicks away from where it is meant to be.
I would hardly deem this as minutiae, sir.
But worry not, I am not about to let a minor detail ruin my fun of your sublime work, dude.
But please do not regard my and other poster's comments as a slight on your ability.
We are the players, your CIV2 fellows, not an arena of detractors.
I have the highest regard for your scenario, and it's impact - as I have said many times.
We are a community; we create scens to have fun.
And if they are remakes of previous ones, so what?
I welcome as many scens as there can be made, I do not reject any based on content or type.
There is no room for elitism in what we do, it is meant to be fun, not a rivalry.
I would say that the past is best left in the past.
You are here now, at the zenith of your work, forget the previous opponents you had.
I find that old enemies are best left in your wake.
So let's be reasonable.
And yes, the CIV2 engine is limited, but we all strive to push those borders.
Let's keep doing that!
