It'd be funny if the two fortified swords took out their army :P I don't know how likely that is though, chances are they'd just kill one take heavy damage, then go back to the city to heal before coming for the 2nd.

I am with Dom, This turn, we should Raze and Fortify. Next turn, If we so wish, we can try to take Anarchy, but with both units.
If we do deside to take it, we should try to keep it and not raze it. Razing it will then later require it having to be rebuilt, which costs time, sheilds and pop to do that.
GCA's Army will be too involved with our main force to send an appreciable force to that city to try to retake it.
Here is my timeline of events that we should try to do:
This turn (turn 122)- Raze the Iron and fortify all.
turn 123 - attack and take Anarchy. Start building walls.
turn 124 - 1 sheild of production towards walls. Rush Walls for 76 Gold.
Turn 125 - Walls built and we are set in that city.
By that time, We will also have taken atleast 1 other city in the north, and CFC's unit movements towards Soda will leave them without enough to try to retake that city.

Are there any plans to send a settler W of the ruins of Elucidium to take advantage of the raze and build one by the shores of the river on the square next to the fish?

In a way, it’s good that Elucidium was abandoned because it was in a silly place. Why would you start one square away from a river when you could be next to the river? Let’s hope New Elucidium will grow bigger than the old (although more corrupt, alas).
The abandonment reminds me of nothing more than a big sulk.
By the way, do the ruins ever “wear down”? That would be a good modification to have: the older the ruins get, the lower the pile of rubble gets, until they’re gone. Or maybe they turn into a hill. They should disappear faster if they are next to a city as the citizens steal building materials from them.

Maybe they had more horses, and after the first one hurt the NM it retreated to let the second one finish the job. Very unlikely to happen, but it isn't impossible. |
If that were the case, another NM would have moved up the line to fight the next horse.
Very odd results for their attack(s)in this war so far. Why would you risk a precious horse unit if you were just beating a hasty retreat? Its far more valuable furthe down the road than to weed out one NM, especially if it were to lose.
I would never do this attack. Very suspicious, IMHO. Or a combination of poor tactics and good/great luck.

I'm not quite sure I understand this reasoning. Our Horsemen cannot do squat about their Horsemen, unless we plan to leave our Horsemen out in the open, open for counter-attacks. Their own Horsemen will probably not be left our in the open either: as we approach their cities, they can just do hit and run tactics, ending their Horsemen movement inside cities.
The best counter we have to their pesky Horsemen is Mercs. Our odds of winning with those (especially if Catapults are in the stack) are good, and it allows us to keep our stacks together.
We must expect and plan for some attrition as we march through their lands. Horsemen is not the solution to this.
