On Darius, the bottomline for me is that he has not posted here for three weeks, he hasn't posted at CFC for oper a month and he left CDG.

I got a feeling his CIV days are at least on hold if not ended right now.

So if you want to get this game going we need o find a sub.

Lets not wait for another two or three week delay. Lets just do it. Yaroslav can strip the passwords if we need it.

I don't think Darius used passwords, but in any case, Yaroslav would know, since he ctrl-N'ed the USA this turn

It can be removed, several people know how to do that. I didn't know about the him being caught cheating thing, that does explain his absence.

Pablostuka would probably disagree with me but ""Caught cheating" is probably too strong.

Lets call it stretching the house rules in a 2194 days of War Giga Map game and a major disagreement between Pablostuka and Darius whether it was fair or not.

But in either case we should just hunt up a replacement. I wonder if Eivind would do it?

How about Pinkygen, I still dont hink he cheated and as long as he assures us he reloaded CIV 2 to erase the effect of his mods I would personally welcome him back.

Just a thought.

This raises the question then if Ctrl-N'ing to leave air-units in the aloft is acceptible in this game.
The same goes for Ctrl-N'ing so Ironclads and gunboats don't sink at sea.

I'm against the use of this method.

With three players out in 8 turns , maybe we should start from scratch again.

Maybe he would!

I hate to see PBEMs die, so here comes 'The PBEM Saver' to the rescue!

If I'm in the game I guess I can cast a vote on the ctrl-n thing and the airbase thing. My vote is a definite no .

So what's the background story for thins one? I read the first two pages and saw the house rules. So you can't trade techs in this one?

Also I believe we can now trade techs because Yaroslav hex edited the save a while back and slowed down the research.

He also has a copy of the scenario file so edited in case we ever want to replicate the slower research rate.

Guys if I got this wrong let me know but I think thats the way it is. And Kobra you are the USA.

While many tenets of the pact were not released by the State Department, the pact's stated goal is expansion of the principles of democratic republicanism, as the governments of Napoleon III and Alexander II have promised massive democratic reforms within the next two years. Washburne has invited ambassadors from all nations to the White House to explain that the alliance is purely intended to be defensive and is not aimed at any states.

And Zedd and Kobra will have to decide if this alliance stands.

Its kind of funny really because I joined this game to play on the same side for a change with tweo of my favorite players Darius and PinkyGen, and they both dropped out. Im willing to uphold this alliance if Zedd and Kobra agree, please let me know

We cannot build airbases in this scenario, so that is moot.

Con: The Ctrl-N thing is related to shipssinking offshore (the old 'trireme'-factor) and to airplanes running out of fuel.
If you move your 'triremes' or air planes for any amount of space, but not their full movement allowance, then press Ctrl-n, your ships will not sink, nor will your planes run out of fuel. Very usefull method, but not really the way it should be

Techs can be traded fully. (The USA has promised togive the Republic toal civ's. Japan is the only one without it so far...)

Ship chaining is not allowed (so all ships can ONLY pickup cargo in ports!!!)

Reloading is not allowed.

while I'm at it:
I would like unit-gifting to be restricted to online meetings only, or the use of CivDip 3.0.
Giving units to an AI should not be allowed (because of the teleportation of units that would occur) please vote on this

Well, for you info, is not a disagreement between Darius and me. it's a disagreement between Darius and academia, jim panse, Nilat Bolshevik, Kruger, pap1793, belisariu and me. All those people are clearly against what Darius did, and most of them automatically left all their games which Darius was in

OK I got it, thanks for explaining it Germanos, I know what everyone is talking about and I agree on the ctrl-n thing to "freeze" units so you dont lose them. On your last issue I guess I vote yes. Although I dont feel strongly about it.

OK, from one perspective you could say that it's not cheeting, but bug in the game. Similar to ship chaining and caravan re-homing. However like these you have to evaluate the effect on the game to see if it is reasonable to think it could be used. I asked in this forum (IIRC ) if ship chaining could be used, I did not assume it could, specificly becouse it could be an advantage in battle or trade. In a PBEM, using bugs like this without a clear group opinion should be frowned on and IMO it should be assumed that they are NOT allowed unless otherwise stated.

finnished running my mouth now, I'm still up for an alliance. although I don't know what the terms were and would like to review those.

OH YEA, WELCOME KOBRA!

I think civdip should suffice for any type of trading, but keep in mind that it takes 2 turns to gift a unit.

TURN 1
Giver move unit in poisiton, creates barter file and e-mails it to the Recipient.
Recipient opens the barter file and accepts the trade, then gifts the same unit to him/her self.
(automaticly done by civdip)

Turn 2
Recipient takes control of the unit.

When did ship chaining become a bug and a cheat? What's so unrealisitc about it? An airplane flying forever to avoid carriers and iron clads crossing the atlantic is unrealistic. Not only unrealistic, but virtually impossible in real life.

As Zedd said, he brought it up when he joined the game (initially as a sub for Yaroslav/United Kingdom). You can read the discussion on it, just a few pages back.

Majority vote has ruled against shipchaining.

Players order:
Conmcb: Russia
Germanos: Japan
Zedd: France (was: PinkyGen)
JamesJKirk: Germany
Kobra: USA (was: Darius)
Yaroslav: UK (was: Academia (for one turn or so :lol)

Not a cheat, but a bug YES.

When you think about it the MP represents movement in the alotted time (months or years depending on the turn)

Ok, maybe I'm not the best to explain it, try this:
You leave New York headed for Jamaica on an ocean liner.
The trip takes 5 days.
You leave on April 26th and arrive in Jamaica....?April 26th? Then you take another ocean liner to Aruba, once again a 5 day trip. You arrive in Aruba.......?April 26th???

I know the time zones can affect travel, but thats Nuts.

To answer germanos' question, I'm for continuing this game, the first turns are horribly tedious, and we haven't done much that's not reversable anyhow at this point. Also, "only" two players have quit, if I'm not mistaken, since yaro came back after only a turn or two.

Also, welcome aboard Kobra, I look forward to good relations between our great nations.

And, in case you didn't know, it's your turn Zedd

This is to prevent double movement of a unit in one turn. For example: I give a unit( let's say a transport with Mfg.Goods ) to France (after I have sailed 11 squares), France moves the unit also 11 squares, and gives it back to me.
22 squares moved in one turn...
Obviously, we should agree that when receiving a unit via online trading, the receiving player should be required to let the unit rest as well.

It seems some discontent has occured in the outlying cities of our little republic, reports speak of workers leaving the fields, Soldiers being killed by rioters, and a group of farmers eaten by some unsavory jungle creatures. Many Scientists turned in thier resignations and a few decided to try thier luck in show biz.

Meanwhile, relations with Germany have been strengthened while also upholding our agreement with the USA and Russia to spread republicanism to the entire world. A Scientist has been dispatched to Berlin to impart this knowledge.
