The only reason Israel hit Syria is because they could. Israel probably would never do anything to, say, Pakistan (nukes) or Saudi Arabia (US oil interests). This move is about as ballsy as Mike Tyson smacking Steven Hawking.

But sooner or later that kind of behavoir catches up with you. It increasingly alienates the rest of the world, and insures that Israel will never get along with its neighbors. And inevitably the balance of power will shift - it always does. Just ask the Athenians, the Romans, the French, the British, the Soviets ...

And we wonder why Iran may want nukes? Acts like these only encourage proliferation.

Well depends on your definition.

If there's a truly civilian camp which also happens to harbor terrorists?

In any case, you'd have to ask somebody who knows for sure (like possibly me a year from now) but no matter who you ask it's probably classified.

If you ask the Israelis, it's classified intelligence material.

If you ask syrians or lebanese, they'll claim it's all propoganda.

If you ask the terrorists they'll either downplay it or say it's their secret.

I just wonder if this will start a new war between Syria and Isreal. Syria in the UN on Sunday day how they were using restraint in their actions, and did have the force to deter Isreal from attacking them further. I doubt if they do. I mean if they had a somewhat good airforce those IAF planes would have never made it to the targets.

Isreal is comparing their attacks to the what the US did after 9-11 and attacked the terrorist training camps in Afganistan.

A war between Syria and Israel would go to history as the 6 hour war. They might be evil but they're not stupid (which according to my own views are quite mutually exclusive).

It's the cleaning up operations that are costly, but Israel has probably no need to annex Damascus as of yet

Yeah Syria could not do very much. US troop are in Iraq, and Isreal is right there. They would never stand a chance. From what I heard these attacks are symbolic and they are trying to send a message to Syria to stop their support of terrorist.
