panag,
what do you call piracy?
Copying a louse product, which isn't worth 5 cents?
The reason why I am saying so, I am nowadays fairly 'pissed off' with the companies. The stuff they produce (at least for me) is so lousy, that I sometimes think, they don't deserve better.
Before you think I use pirated copies: All the games I have a proper games. Sometimes I must admit, I might have used a backup-copy to playtest and decide shall I spend the money or not. If I dodn't like it, I removed it (including the copy).
I, for a while, used demos to test, BUT most of the time the demos are fantastic, but the program is to be flushed down. This for me, is far worst, than playtesting a pirated real game for deciding to buy. If you can't trust the publisher, you have to take other ways. And this (at least for certain publishers) seems to get the standard. If you are foolish enough to buy the game right away, you are just being missused as a playtester on a non-working product, waiting for new patches to come out (which might take ages????????????)
Nowadays I even do it far more different, I just wait till I can buy the game for 5-10€ in a discount shop or similar.
Two advantages:
1.) You have the original
2.) If it is still a fail, at least not expensive

Hi Panag,
In other areas, if the product isn't great somebody else makes a clone and is allowed to sell it legally (i.e. clothes, shoes, etc........), but in computing: The publisher is allowed to rip the customer off
Doesn't sound logical............
And I didn't want to make a justifcation for it, just an explanation.
I think in certain areas, if prices like this would be charged for a product which is rubbish, they would be sued for harrasment........... |
hi ,
as long as no one breaks your arm to buy it , who forces you to buy it , ...... if one does not like a product , no one forces one to buy it , ......
if the publisher makes a low quality type of program , you can bet that the whole world shall know about it fast , therefore less people shall buy it and the publisher is then faced with the facts , ......
then he can either rework the program , make a patch , or withdraw it , etc , .......
have a nice day

But all what you hear from those guys:
The bloody pirating guys are breaking our sales. If there weren't so many people copying, we would sell better.
But as you already said:
quote:
then he can either rework the program , make a patch , or withdraw it , etc , .......
|
The only problem is, they always blame it on others............
And as big MC said:
It is cheaper to buy a film than a game.......that doesn't sound right.
But coming back to the point about selling:
In the old days, companies brought out demos, to try. Nowadays they still bring out demos, but most of the time they are twice better than the later game............
(just needed to be said.....grrrrrrrrrrr)
