Hi Protra3211,

The Diplomatic answers are not hardcoded, you only need to change the texts of the file called dip_str.txt or dip2_str.txt that should be located in the C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\your language\gamedata folder. If you want to change the answers in a mod, find the text files of the said mod with diplomod as a name (ex: APOL_diplomod_str.txt for the Super Apolyton Pack) and change the answers.

Be careful some parts of the text must not be changed (in bold) and the spaces must be respected:

MADLIB_REQUEST_GREETINGS_SF "Greetings. All hail the magnificent leader, [player.1.leader_name] of [player.1.country_name]."

I think this is enough but I might be wrong... If it does not work ask some help in the CtP2 General/Help forum.

Ah but Maq, the flag you display comes from France, so maybe Tamerlin feels the English are actualy French, from the royal lines of William of Normandy?

Maybe Tamerlin can shed some light on it? I'm just a lowly welshman, who remembers the house of William of Normandy with some dread.

Oh and the current royal family are of German descent, changed their name to windsor.............nah sorry about this, just was trying to work out the enigma of Tamerlin, the frenchman english rugby supporter.

As you say Maq - stiff upper lip old chap, we'll see this through together

I know why, as i read all threads on apolyton Its because England are the Northern hemisphere team, oh and they play with those ugly and slow forwards like the Frenchies, whereas all the aussie players are trimmed runners.

The summary is quite good Maq...

Gentlemen, let me explain my position:

First, I have nothing against the Perfidious Albion ( ) and his fellow inhabitants.

Second, they are playing a great Rugby and thus deserve to be supported.

Third, England is the last Northern Hemisphere team against the heretics of the Southern Hemisphere who would like to change the laws of the game (particularly through their referees and their interpretation of the said laws) to limit the role of the forwards (scrums and rucks) in favor of an all-running Rugby much like Rugby League played with fifteen players (see the All Blacks). England was actually the last team representing the spirit of the game of Rugby in this World Cup.

Fourth, my avatar was the symbol of the FFR (Fédération Française de Rugby) until the last game of the French team and I decided to "wear" the Rose until the end of this World Cup in order to show my full support to the English team. This explains why I have changed wednesday my FFR avatar in favor of the Rose.

Fifth, I like my Europeans neighbours.

All the European royal families have more or less a common bloodline. As far as I remember, the Hundred Years War which opposed France and England was fought because of a bloodline story (read: a sordid "love" affair) and a inheritance problem.

Unfortunately, I can't help you about the English flag, perhaps is it linked to the Aquitaine area in France which remained English for a long time (until Richelieu I think...).

[EDIT] As CoT wrote, this flag could also be linked to the Normandy area which has also been an English possession for a while... [/EDIT]

Here is what I found here about the English flag as we can see it around the Rugby fields:

The English national flag at this period consisted of a simple red cross fully imposed upon a plain white field, this being the emblem of St. George, England's patron saint.

I am rather sure that France would have been supported by many English if we had beat your team given the "love" between the English and the Aussies.

Moreover, I feel closer to a team in which I have seen many players "live" in Toulouse during the Heineken Cup since 1996. I have thus seen several times players like Martin Johnson and Neil Back when they came in France to play against the Stade Toulousain.

About the Southern Hemisphere teams, this is more the poor quality of the Rugby they are playing which bothers me rather than their overconfidence, though I must admit that this can sometimes be irksome.

Have a good un Hex [and thanx for putting cradle together ]

here Maq i found this link on the flag of St.george link

The source i used previously reference it maybe being brought over by William the Conqueror came from an interesting series on tv recently. Some guy was exploring all the castles that got built after the norman conquest, and the origins of their architecture. Anyway he traced it back to where William had grown up and found examples of the red cross on a white background at a castle somewhere in france(I think it was in the south west?). As he was basically illigitimate he spent alot of his formative years outside of his fathers court in Normandy. The website also mentions something in the section on the battle of Hastings - William had a red cross on white as part of his banner.

Anyway its not a native 'British' thing as such(whatever that is) - much like the english themselves it came from across the channel [Heathen invaiders! ]

But it could also be of Italian or Greek descent(certain towns that took St.George as their patron).
So take your pick English - do you feel more French,Greek or Italian

The welsh(name given to them by the Danes meaning 'foreigner' - nice!), have, atleast in the south of the country possibly some 'lost in the shady past' connection to the Arabs or Persians - i've never found more than a few mentions of this(it seemed like a large group of people arrived by boat while trading and settled), so it all goes to show that nationality is a strange thing - and maybe we should all just try to get along better - well except when the rugby is on

sorry for the CoT's view on history

That would be the Phoenicians, they were known to have trading outposts in Britain. I think it's fairly well established the present-day Welsh people are Celtic though, any relationship with the Phoenicians would be a very, very distant one...

Red and white are very popular colours, Poland has them too i think - so maybe St.George did some things over that way?

well i can speak it pretty poorly and spell it even worse!
I have vowed to learn it well enough to get by before i die

'Y di chi yn charaeg yn cymraig?' ,would be the question you asked, but in welsh as i would speak it phoneticaly(the spelling has flaws!)-welsh being phonetic, hmmm yes Locutus it was the Phoenicians........with a name like that i wonder if their language was phonetic too?

Also i've read some stuff that makes claims about the Irish Myth stories and the people of Ireland coming from the sea to this wonderfull land - and how there could be a connection between explorers/traders from the middle east actually being these first people of Ireland! So i keep my mind open when i can Heck we are all brothers in this world, especially on Hex's birthday
