Sorry bearcat i didnt see the official rules thread till just now! Also on the nation size, remember, it isnt how big the claim is, it is what you do with the claim!!

Midshipman, if you really want China, you can have it. I'll change to Russia then.

ok.
1. Armies should not be larger than 1.5 million men. Any larger and things become unrealistic.
2. Giancarlo is a bad poster.
3. Many claims are too large or unrealistic (mine included).
4. I will volunteer to be (a) mod.

1.5 million? China's now is roughly 3 million not including reserves. India's is pretty large too. The US has...what? 1 million? 2 million? Not sure about Russia.

That number does not include reserves. Standing armies are prohibitively expensive, especially for more than a million men.

Of course quality also comes into play. You can't expect, say a division of armor from the US to be on par with a division of armor (or lack thereof) from...let's say the Congo.

Scott I dub thee claims mod! You seem to know more about what's realistic in a claim than I do.

The US doesn't even have 700,000....
But in reality, a 2.9 million man army was actually used by the Soviets for many years, and they were a successful (used loosely) country.
China too.
1.5 million is a tremendous army, and people should shy away from even 600,000 especially these huge european countries...
Hell I've got Vietnam, who has the third largest army in the world and I've got a little more than a million men.

I think that as long as someone realistically has the resources to support more than 1.5 million men than they should be able to have more soldiers if they want too.

But you have to remember, how many posters can we realisticall expect to get? I mean, there isn't exactly a steady stream of newbies coming in. And if we leave large countries like NPCs we'll basically be interacting with ourselves or the mods to gain new territory.

Fast Eddie: Scandinavia, in total, has a little over... hmm... counting... 24 million people... more or less half of Spains population. I'd say the claim is valid.

T-Head Russia isn't split! At the moment it is to poor and broken to do much of anything. I recognize the reservation of Russia.
