Rotflmao!
I never knew the word "pop" could be taken so many ways!
Here in Illinois (please, don't pronounce the "s"!) we call any carbonated beverage "pop" as Wittlich has said,
My mother is from Virginia, and apparently they call it something different there. She was at her in-laws in New York City in the 1960's and they asked her if she wanted a soda. Now, to her, a soda meant an ice cream float, or sundae, I can't remember which. So of course she said yes, and they brought her out a can of Pepsi. She was quite dissapointed. (the American version of quite, as opposed to the English version.)
Myself, I don't think I've ever heard anyone call it a soda, well maybe one of my friends' parents, don't know where they're from. My mother has the bad habit of calling all colas Pepsi. This got us into a lot of misunderstanding when we went to Europe. Somehow I don't think Pepsi is very popular over there.
Hey Paddy, quick question. You ever have a root beer? I found out while I was in Europe that root beer is quite the American thing, and almost no one else in the world drinks it. I find that to be a pity. Root beer is my favorite beverage. Now, before you go thinking it's made with alcohol, I guess I should tell you what it is.
Back during the prohibition (1920's?) Brewerys all across the states were out of buisness. Then they found that they could brew a carbonated beverage with the roots of the Sasafrass Tree. The called the stuff "root beer" as it was to replace beer and it was made with roots.
BTW, if you are ever on the east side of Lake Michigan, do go and pick one of the leaves off the Sasafrass Tree. Then grind it between your fingers and smell it. You will know when you have found a Sasafrass Tree, at least, you will if you know what root beer tastes like.
Waiting on Smelly,
Dan O.

Hey guys,
I'm over at my sister's house tonight. I'm babysitting 3 of my nephews. They are quite the active bunch!
They're ages are 4, 6, and 8. Also, I'm watching another sister's dog, a young pup.
It will probably be around 1:00 Am by the time I get home. Just thought I'd let you all know!
