Ahh.. well its fine then, I guess. Keep up the great work... and I know how having 20 tiles left to do is. I must have a thousand or so references to sort out (including putting a slightly elaborate #if #end around each one) in the code to remove the wonder/building limits.

hares an new pic I think it demonstrates that rifts can easily graphically merge with lava rifts.

looks great

But could you post them also that we (in this case me) could see how they look on a single base? Just wanted to see the interjunction parts without something connected.

Now we just need moving waves and fishes/wales in there and off we go.

You want to see what. Hopefully I will have the alpha tile set up and running tonight. I then need a few days to get the tile rules spot on

Just one by one, not connected. I am just curious, how they look 'bit by bit'.

I am just hunting the bugs in it at the moment you will have to make a new terrain type based on the rifts to get the lava rifts to work in game. The tile id for the rifts is 27.

on a separate note what terrain values should we give the lava rift. I say something like the volcano but a bit more production.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

In apolyton SAP it is (F/S/G)

Deep Sea: 10/0/10
Volcano: 10/20/10
rift: 5/20/5

Actually I would say:
Deep Sea: 10/5/10 (I never liked that the deep see had no production, kind of ilogical, as you would be sitting on the ground)
Volcana: 5/20/15 (They are anyway rare/more gold for the minerals you can take off 'easily')
lava rift: 5/30/15 (they are even easier to harvest)
normal rift: 10/15/10 (shall have enough minerals to have 15 shields and 10 gold, but also enough food)

The best joke with the underwater terrain is that all food would probably come from the surface . Even the robotic fisheries would only be in the top 50 meter of the sea so hypothetically all sea terrain should have the same food production.

exactly, food from the top and production from the bottom.

So you think we shall have allways food=10, would make mroe sense (the only one we might want to exclude, Volcano)

Wouldn't necessarily agree, if it erupts or similar?

But we could say, instead of like 8. (never understood that we always use multiples of 5

Put an end to popups!

there is a possibility that there is increased food there because of the heat

I do remember that the extra heat provides new/different live, plus the fact that the extra minerals are providing nutrisious (sp?) enviroment, but don't forget, if it erupts or just flexes it muscles everything is spoiled.

A mistake i made when altering the values of terrains was trying to be too perfect in realism, then i swung the other way and went mainly for gameplay, then i reached a balance. I would say dont worry about giving it a value yet. It will all need to be tested alongside costs of the same era anyway. But as a general rule, if its rare, it only makes sense to give it good natural production.

quote:
Deep Sea: 10/5/10 (I never liked that the deep see had no production, kind of ilogical, as you would be sitting on the ground)

I guess Dale changed it from 10/10/5 (unmodded) to 10/0/10 in SAP because he changed beaches too, to lower the value of a navy (?), perhaps because the AI is so bad at protecting its shores. SAP games are more fun with all land anyway.

I can't think what you did wrong all you need to do is download both zips then uses them as any other tile file.

the only thing you have to do is create the tile data in terrain.txt

You want a good laugh I got the tile rule from hell to deal with . It’s one big bug with the continental shelf’s there’s two ways to do it one fudge it so no rift can be placed at the side of a continental shelf. Or do it the hard way and try to make the appropriate rules.

I found the answer !!!!

Let me explain ctp uses tile rules that is well known however to work some of these rules the program uses fuzzy tiles these are tiles that can be one of several different types .

All I have two do is make two new groups

Rifts (lava and normal)
Underwater (all of the deep water tiles)

And it is sorted the downside of this however is that people in the vanilla game will never be able to use the tile file
