Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Just updated the pic to the new one. I just fiddled ever so slightly with it in paint shop pro. What you can now do is start with the colour sample tool on the old tile (on the base colour in it) and move to the new with no change in colour

It is with no better words spot on

btw just like to say i agree with Maq's idea of using the CTP1 jungle and forest land AS well as the current ones, possibly renaming and slightly adjusting there attributes to a different kinda of forest and jungle that is currently in CTP2

I really think this is a good idea, adds variation and realism.......and fun

We haven't come to terms with what various terrain types should ultimately be in... although I do tend to agree that this might be viable.

look how damn cool the concept terrain was for CTP1

you can see that this was quite closely followed in the very! early beta screenshot, and then finally in the release of CTP1 hardly looked the same (except with some small exceptions like the forest) which was then changed again in CTP2

but i think for any new terrain this little college would be a great guide for new CTP2 terrain

wow those are damn nice big mc

u thought of underwater Hydrothermal vents ?
they are EXTREMELY rich in metals, but with current technology we are unable to effeciently mine them
they are just like underwater geysers

also (this is probably for another thread) i think offshore platforms should only be able to be built on under water oil/gas reserves
currently u can pick random areas of the sea and built and offshore platform, very unrealistic! and not very tactical

Tired of ads?

I like them Big Mc, bbut i wouldnt have them on shallow water, they look better on only deep. If someone can get the deep and shallow vision to work like it did with CtP1 it would be good, so we dont see all these wonderful underwater details until we have the right tech to do so.

I agree with Maq, it works best for deepsea. And it will only really work if we can indeed reinstate the hiding of underwater terrain by tech.

E,
It's based on regular hills, as The Big Mc stated in his post before yours.

I did it in Paint shop pros colour balancing feature

And to answer all of you the shallow hill will go in the finished altered tile file but will be shorted out in constants.txt so any moder can activate it again pretty easily.

errr the only tiles i intergrated into tile file so far are the lava rifts and trenches. boht are based on the numbering system for rifts.

Got spare money?

I looked into dark smokers (Hydrothermal vents) today it appears that we can’t really model them in ctp this is because research has shown that a thermal vent is very small about two meters across but several times that in height. The graphic which would have to be made would be on the same size of a ctp1 tree which previous attempts have proven to look superimposed because of the size

yes but big mc, forests arent modeled as single trees are they

Hydrothermal vents are located close together
I had a webpage somewhere, but i would suggest google

They do also hold VAST amounts of precious metal which are being looked into now, for a way of mining them.
One of which i remember of interest is large amounts of the rare metal Cobalt (although i have no idea of what this metal is used for)

Maybe it'll be better as good (vents that is, and it could be animated!)

Another recommendation are those ore fields, there is a lot of alloys laying on the floor, just hard to go that deep to get them

The problem is that terrain that appears on ctp 2 is large if it’s over a mile across then it is in. as I have already pointed out I tried to get them graphically to work the over day but they came out as matches. If I made them bigger they would look like the volcanoes. So as you can see were stuck between rocks and a hard place.

Just finished a preview of underwater mountains. There the hardest terrain I have done because you have to make a negative before you can make the mountains. The image on screen is not finished as there is only one tile making the image not the many I really need

I will have another look into thermal vents but now I need a coder so volunteers please.

looking good again

im not sure how ur making the mountains but i assume your using the CTP2 land mountains as a base

An idea, use the CTP1 mountains too, to add variation (although i would like the see the CTP1 mountains implemented along with the current CTP2 mountains too)
