adamada, what exactly dont you get from my post?
as for your question on the "real meat of the issue", if I try to answer it, I will end up repeating myself using different words, so I might as well use the same ones

Leting this name for this person be NOW, is an expression of saying that everyone is accepted on Apolyton if he follows certain common sense rules. AS hasn't goten a "vacation" for a long time.
I will say it again. If you feel that he or someone else is posting insults, flames and hatred comments and we are leting him do that, please mail us. Be sure that we will take action.

Anywho, remember, insult is in the eye of the beholder, something could greatly insult me while have absolutely no bearing on you. Now, if the majority think that something is an insult, does that make it an insult? I say no, because if the majority say that 1+1=5, does that make it right? Of course not.
The irony is probably that AS hasn't even seen this thread yet. And by not posting here if he has seen it, he might be saying, "I don't have to listen to your silly accusations" rather than what you suggest.

A) for some people yes, we've said this already
B) when we found out the meaning of the login, we tolerated it's existence, and decided to judge it by it's use instead of banning it. after 1-2 "vacations" and all these months of discussions AS has learned what we and everyone else here finds acceptable. he hasnt been banned for anything he posted for over 6 months(if you have found him to be posting insulting material please do notify us).
so, banning the specific login now is in contradiction with how we have handled the situation all these months.

I can't help but aggree with Klesh. While it is the admins. decision, I (for one) will continue to state that allowing speer to keep his username is wrong. I also believe that it is perfectly acceptable for you to change your decision about the name. Before, it hadn't been publicized, and few people were complaning. Now, many people are saying that they are offended, and the decision needs to be rethought to take this into account.
I have a proposal. Why dosn't one of the admins. offer Speer the chance to change his username. He will retain his current post count, and the change will be publicly announced (so people know what his new name is) if he desires. Speer will be under no obligation to accept, but it can't hurt to try. If he was willing to do this, then the debate would be dropped (as long as he dosn't post anything else pro-natzi, that is).
As for my addressing my earlier comment to Ming: Sorry. I meant to write MarkG.

Well, let me give you a bit of advice, you do NOT, repeat NOT want this to leak into the OTF (where AS hangs out a lot). If it does, then there will be so much crap in there agruing about it. But I don't care, MarkG already made a decision, why argue with it. I'm willing to let this drop if you are.

Anywho, go ahead, bring it into the OTF, I bet you within the first 50 posts you will be called: a racist, a bigot, a facist, a evil outcast, a loser, at least. If you bring it to the OTF, I'm going to try to not post on it as it may erupt into a flame war with free speech as the issue. Either way, it's your choice I guess.

if you, or anyone else wish to contact AS in order to discuss with him the posibility of changing his login, feel free to. We have more important things to do around the site, than start a process where we will have to judge every username someone might have a problem with(checking up new logins is another case)
AS is currently on "vacation"(for creating a double login). Since his e-mail is not publicly availiable(for everyone else except the admins that is) you will have to wait until he returns and posts in the OT(he is almost always there) so that you can contact him.

on a general note, I hope people understand that likewise, our dedication to providing a good site for civers, demand lots of the things that some people might have a problem with.
it never is "better things to do". it always is "more important things to do for that civer that comes here for content and civ discussion and not for OT chitchat"
