This may be a language barrier, vlad. My sole experience of the word "Gimp" comes from the film "Pulp Fiction", in which it's applied to a strange little character in fetish gear. I'm unaware of other interpretations, but if it's causing offence I'll change it.

That is, after all, what separates me from the likes of Speer. I'm not pursuing an ideological stance. I'm just not trying to offend.

Is anyone offended?

The arguments people are udning to defend the Albert Speer login are completely daft. I mean arguments like "freedom of speech" and "it are only words" are to stupid to even think about. If that is the case then I don't see why some logins are banned or deleted. If nothing is done about handles like Albert Speer then I think all logins could and should be used. Why don't we all change our login names to the ones Lazarus mentioned? Why not "nigga waster" or "fag killer"or any other extremely offensive names you can find...indeed why not Adolf Hitler? Better even, what would all of you guys think of of a handle like "Juden Vervolger"?

Unfortinatly, the •Albert Speer• thread has been closed. It appears that speer has no wish to change his username, and it is also clear that the administraters of this site will not force him to do so. I understand that this topic has just become moot point. Still, I would just like to say this before this thread is closed:

No matter how long the 'speer's handle' topic is neglected, it will always resurface. The simple offensive nature of the log-on will continue to haunt this site for years to come. The fact that it is allowed will always be a stain on the site's reputation, no matter how good the administration here is. While we may drop the issue, it will never go away. If the apolyton forums exists for years (which I don't see any reason which it won't), then this topic will be brought up many times; by new and old users. Somethings don't die with time…
