To Dr. Spike, actually I wasn't exagerrating about a sleepless night downloading the 1.15 patch. Did it last night, and it took four hours. Yes, some places in the country have dial-up that make snail mail look fast. (Clocks at an average of 2 KB per second. That's kilobytes. It crawls slower than a slug.) I so can't wait for DSL to become available out here.
Anyways, I followed yours, Rommels, and Turner's advice. I tried 1.15, and it actually launched. At least, it started to... before it did a stack dump. Oh well. It was exciting for a little while. It did install though, and I read the readme file for 1.15 before attempting launch.
I think my phone lines or the slowness of the transmission itself must be corrupting the files somehow.
So once again, I'm begging Atari--or *anybody* -- to sell me a copy of the 1.22 FULL patch on CD. (Maybe I'll stand out by the on ramp with a cardboard sign that says "Will work for 1.22 patch CD.") |
You could get satellite Internet...
