The Dominion of Noosland also denounces such an act of aggression.

"Chairman theres massive tremors coming from the Auldoninna region ... too localised for an earthquake ... more likely weaponary, nuclear weaponary"
"You've got 1minute to get this confirmed Jin"
"Yes, incoming reports they've broadcast it was a successful nuclear test, other nations denouncing it ... information on their weaponary, still short ranged, not capable of hitting Hive territory, no Auldoninna ships currently carrying nuclear weaponary within range either. Analysts working on Auldoninnas economic and military development suggest 6-7months until missiles of sufficient range can be deployed."
"Full alert then, i want 4 battlegroups to head for the waters just off Auldoninna and get us a senior ranking defector, want to know everything about their intentions. Warn their government to cease these tests. If they continue then destroy the testing facilities and assassinate anybody associated whatever the costs. ANY evidence pointing to them having developed nuclear warheads capable of hitting the Hive mainland and i want their island SUNK in a pre-emptive blitz and if they attempt to bring any nuclear missiles into range of the Hive via land sea or air then give orders to instantly destroy it"
"4 Chairman? we've got the capability to deploy 10 and still have sufficient to deal with anything that happens in Azan"
"4 officially Jin, and put out the word for the other nations to do more then denounce these tests or the Hives full arsenal will go on alert"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somewhere along the River of Azan
"The orders still coming in to hold these positions?"
A young thin man nodded in answer to the commanders question, he seemed thinner then everybody else, most likely straight out of the Hives academy due to his intelligence and the military fitness regime hadn't finished with his body yet.
"Hold this position, let nothing cross that river sir, still the same message."
"Well lad i guess we sit and wait for our lambs"
INC: Imperial Navy Command, Dina Ceroo
The High Admiral's Office
Tapping his thumbs on the table, the High Admiral waited for word from the fleet. The bright red phone rang. "Yes".
"Sir, Endeavour reported in, they seen the flash and later, remnants of the cloud, it is confirmed an atomic blast did occur".
"Damn it. Any damage to thee fleet?"
"No sir, all vessels in the first fleet are reporting okay, and Captain Landeros says that the recon flights confirmed it was an Auldoninnan facility".
"Divert the fleet, send them north, past Auldoninna. I want to get a good idea of their fleet movements, plus they may be called upon should the situation escalate further"
"Sir, the Hive, they are sending four of their divisions too"
"I saw the report, four battlegroups would be outnumbered by the first fleet"
"And, I guess, we are on the same side this time..."
"Make sure Landeros knows he is not to trust the Hive commanders, should they come into contact. But he is to maintain a non-aggressive stance towards them".
"Yes sir".
The admiral lowered the handset and walked to the window, looked out across the ocean, towards Alecrast. 'We needed that fleet back here' he thought. The INC was well over-budget for the year- improvements to the navy's airforce [OOC: Ceroo's INC controls the army and airforce, the islands' naval tradition placed a strong emphasis on the naval forces] costed billions of Ceroos, recalling the fleet was meant to be a cost-cutting excercise. Plus, some ships would be needed to patrol Cerooan waters, the departure of the thrid fleet to Aan earlier in the month had Cerooan defences pretty thin in some places...
Later, Apolyton Ocean
The Cerooan First Fleet, en route back from Ceroo de Wysteria, changed course and began to head north-east. This was Ceroo's largest naval force, and contained the Flagship Dreadnought, INS Endeavour. The occasional merchant vessel from North Texas passed, but these seas were pretty empty. For now.
Press Release, Cerooan Department of Foreign Affairs
To our friends in Jonchastan and Basus, as you have offered to guarantee the safety of vessels, we will begin the movement of relief supplies from the ports in Ceroo to the edge of Guardinian waters- however we must insist that either Basus or Jonchastani vessels escort the non-military shipping from the edge of Guardinian waters into your port. Any vessel which is not flanked by friendly military vessels is not permitted to leave Guardinian waters. While we will not contribute to the defense of the hospital area in terms of stationing our personnel (it may seem as an aggressive act by FCL forces) we have instructed Cerooan arms manufacturing companies to offer substantial discounts on any naval hardware required by any of the Basus-Jonchastan-Karakas pact in the hope that we can indirectly help aid your cause.
On board the Frigate JPS Fall of the Ancien Régime, inside the naval patrol zone of the League of Armed Neutrality, Free Azan
Captain Isaac Bernstein watched nervously as the Guardinian relief convoy made its way towards the port at New Aurora. He would have loved to have the Guardinian warships along with them, but that would be just the excuse the fascists needed to launch an attack.
Sure, with the help of Guardinia's sleek, modern destroyers, Jonchastan's aging fleet would be more than able to beat back any within striking distance with little or no problem, but that would undoubtedly be the end of Jonchastan's neutrality, and put all the good work they were doing for the Azani people in jeopardy.
As the huge industrial cranes at New Aurora came into view, Captain Berstein relaxed a little, and looked admiringly around the bridge of the Fall of the Ancien Régime. Considering the ship had been launched almost forty years ago (she was called the Emir Abdullah then), the Ancien Régime had held together well. With all her refits, she was more than a match for any ship of her class. Still, if the Central Committee was serious about this "internationalist" turn of theirs, they would have to start spending some of Jonchastan's oil revenue on some new equipment.
Bernstein made a mental note to advocate more spending at the next ship's council meeting. Delegate elections were coming up again soon, after all.
With the last of the supply ships safely in port, the Ancien Régime slowed, then turned to the South. With any luck, the rest of these supply runs will go as smoothly, but Captain Bernstein wasn't about to take any chances.
Commander in Chief of of the Al Mastifi Intelligence Organisation, Farasi Al Mastif hastily unplugged his HUD as the doors to his Chamber of Cunning Contemplation slammed open.
"Why wasn't I notified?"
"Excuse me, your grace?"
Grand Vizier Kharavos Al Mastif stormed into the room as the doors slammed shut after him.
"Apolyton is on the verge of a major nuclear war, and I, right hand of the Tooled-Up Sultan wasn't warned?"
Farasi sighed with impatience.
"Your grace, all of our sources, in all of our agencies assure us that this is all going to blow over."
"That may be so, but I want at least three teams of Janitors in position, should the situation deteriorate."
"Already done your grace."
"Yes, and without my approval, I see."
"Well, you're a busy man, your grace..."
"In addition, I want you to attempt to undermine the Auldoninnan government. I want it filled with more rats than the whole of Khaftan."
"Already underway, your grace. As we speak, we are isolating key members of the Auldoninnan..."
"Oh, and I'm putting all armed forces, Terror Weapons and air defences on full alert. We're not going to be caught out this time!"
The people of Western Apolyton having just formed their own government are concerned with the terrorist camps displayed on world maps of our area. Being only a small nation we cannot fight them alone.
Western Apolyton government is having secret meetings with certain nations to discuss ways to eliminate the terrorist camps. |
[OOC: As Western Apolyton's closest neighbour, I assume Guardinia would be one of these "certain nations".]
Guardinia offers to assist in any way we can to help bring peace and stability to the people of Western Apolyton.
Auldonina have agreed to set up bases in Western apolyton to aid the newly formed government as we can.
Full and open trade commenced. New naval facility and airfields are under construction , with the Western Apolyton navy and airforce being equipped with the latest military equipment from auldonina. |
Guardinia fears this is not in Western Apolyton's best interest.
First of all, the Auldoninna government has been notoriously unstable in recent months. Since the beginning of the current situation, they have had four different governments, each one overturning established policies of the previous one. Second, Auldoninna's behavior over the recent months has been erratic and unpredictable, not to mention aggressive and threatening to several nations including Guardinia. This does not appear to have improved under any of the recent governments and so far we have little or no reason to believe that the latest government will rectify the situation.
Hence, we do not believe that they can provide the security and stability that Western Apolyton needs.
To the contrary, an alliance with Auldoninna could jeopardize relations between our nations and further increase tensions in the region. As an alternative, we can offer the following: Guardinia is currently involved in negotiations to set up a new defensive alliance called the Apolytonian Defense Union (ADU). We recommend that you either join us or apply to join the League of Armed Neutrality, currently consisting of Jonchastan, Basus and Karakas. We believe both of these can provide Western Apolyton with the security you're looking for while also encouraging open and good relations between our two nations. We hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards
-Blake Fowler, President of Guardinia
-Sean Baldwin, Minister of Foreign Affairs
-Isabella Fuentes, UN Ambassador
-John Paul Atkinson, Minister of Defense
FCL National News
"Greetings, citizens of Frankychanland and denizens of the region of Apolyton. Our glorious leader, General Frankychan, has called an emergency meeting concerning recent events. We take you now to our leader's speech"
----------
-General Frankychan coughs-
"Citizens of Frankychanland, and residents of the Apolyton region....I bring dire news.
The local government of Azan has contacted myself for aid. The government of Azan, in specific, has come directly to me to ask that the nation of Frankychanland, with the help of her allies, expel foreign influence from the borders of Azan. They have asked the great nation of Frankychanland to assist in the rebuilding of Azan and to expel any foreign influence from their soil. I have therefore sent troops into Free Azan territory and have asked my ally, the Hive, to honor the request of Free Azan and send additional troops into their territory to expel foreign invaders.
However, they have asked that we leave the hospital complex set up by the nation of Jonchastan unharmed, and we will do so. All other territory of Azan will be turned over to either Frankychanland, or the Hive.
--------
Free Azan-50 kilometers from the FCL controlled, Azani border
Massive columns of FCL troops drove into Free Azani territory. FCL tanks rolled through Azani forests on their way to the Azani cities. Frankychanland's choppers filled the sky as FCL troops parachuted into Free Azan's territory.
Minimal resistance was encountered as wave after wave of Frankychanland soldiers marched into the relatively undefended border. Submarines off of Free Azan's shores surfaced to fire their conventional missiles at artillery positions, obliterating them so that FCL troops could gain more ground.
........
General Frankychan listened to his field commanders assessments of what was going on. So far, so good. Little resistance, and the FCL-appointed government of Azan was already in the capital making policies to benefit Frankychanland.
General Frankychan smiled....wondering how the Hive's soldiers were fairing in their joint "liberation" operation of Azan.
[OOC: I figure this will really make things interesting in NationStates if something like this happend. Squeblish, expect a phone call from General Frankychan. Things might be beneficial to your nation. Hopefully this move doesn't piss anyone off, while at the same time makes things more interesting here. ]
[OOC: This stuff happened before FCL's fresh invasion of Free Azan territory. Guardinia's response to that one will be posted later today... ]
Destroyer GNS Excalibur, back in international waters, east of the relief area established by the League of Armed Neutrality
Captain Anderson let out a sigh of relief as he heard that the transports had all made it safely into port at New Aurora. Good. That's settled then. Once again, he grumbled at not being able to go in there and join up with the neutrals. Ah well. Politics was politics and neutrality was supposed to be just that. Guardinia had been quick to raise the flag when things started brewing and was now considered a party in the conflict. Hence, Anderson knew, it was politically correct for the League of Armed Neutrality not to be directly associated with Guardinian armed forces. Somewhat unfortunate, perhaps, but for the time being it couldn't be helped. He shrugged. Guardinian forces would remain in the area and watch from a distance, but they would have to leave the neutral zone to the neutrals. That was how it had to be for now, so there was no point in spending any more time pondering what might have been. Besides, if the LAN forces and the relief workers they protected were not attacked, then it wouldn't be a problem anyway. He quietly hoped that the continuing presence of Guardinian forces in the areas surrounding the neutral zone and the often repeated statement that they would protect "anyone with a legitimate business" would also help deter attacks on the neutrals.
Guardinian Nuclear Submarine GNS Sneaky, in Azan waters north of naval patrol zone of the League of Armed Neutrality
As she approached the southern edge of her patrol zone, the Sneaky began a lazy turn that would take her west and eventually back up north. Now that the surface vessels escorting the relief convoy had returned to international waters, the Sneaky was the only Guardinian military presence in Azan waters on the east coast. Here, below the gently rolling waves of the Azan sea, unseen, unheard of, she was lazily patroling the northern approaches to the neutral zone established by Jonchastan and Basus. Nobody was supposed to know she was here. Yet, in the unlikely event of detection by the Jonchastan or Basus navy, the Sneaky's orders were to surface and identify herself. These were strange orders indeed for a nuclear submarine like the Sneaky, but orders were orders...
[OOC: Modern nuclear submarines virtually never surface except when entering or leaving port or when identifying themselves to friendly forces. In the face of a potential enemy, coming to the surface is the equivalent of raising a white flag.]
Various locations in the forest, outside the neutral zone of the League of Armed Neutrality, Free Azan
Hidden in the forest were several camouflaged Observation Posts, manned by people who officially were not here. Their orders were to observe and report, but not to intervene or reveal their positions...
GNN Headline News - Special Bulletin: Frankychanland invades Free Azan!
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
We interrupt our regular broadcast with this special bulletin; We have just heard that the forces of Frankychanland have launched an all-out invasion into Free Azan territory, claiming that "The government of Azan" has requested Frankychanland's aid to "expel foreign influence from the borders of Azan."
Like I said, this is just in, and so far, we have only the following statement from the Guardinian government:
quote: Guardinia does not believe FCL claims that the invasion was requested by a legitimate Azani government. We consider this an act of naked aggression against a virtually defenseless people and we can see absolutely no reason for FCL to be doing this, as their borders were not threatened in any way by any "foreign invaders". Consequently, Guardinia demands an immediate cease fire and withdrawal of FLC forces from Free Azan territory. In return, we offer to withdraw Guardinian Special Forces that are currently operating inside Azan. We propose an expansion of the neutral zone to cover all of Free Azan, pending an official investigation by the Apolyton Court and the establishment of a new Azani government.
We expect an answer from Frankychanland within 6 hours. In the meantime, Guardinian military forces are on alert and will continue their patrols as before. We warn that any attack on Guardinian forces or innocent third parties will be treated as an attack upon Guardinia. |
Evidently, the Guardinian government is prepared to back up it's words with action. There are even unconfirmed reports of strategic bombers being prepared for take off on at least 3 of Guardinia's air bases.
We will come back with more details as soon as possible.
Dominion of Noosland Official Statement
"Today, forces of Frankychanland has once more crossed the border of Free Azan as to completely annex the former country. The Dominion of Noosland denounces such a move. All forces of Frankychanland must immediately and unconditionally withdraw behind the internationally recognised border between Frankychanland and Azan."
Free Azan, International Sanctuary
The Aquamarine Team of the Blue Caps was patrolling outside the established defensive perimeters controlled by the 3rd Light Infantry Division, specially trained and equipped to respond to crises like this around the world. Tomorrow, the Blue Caps teams will head back for Noosland, with the regular infantry troops beefed up by a large contingent of the Nooslandians.
Phillip Goh noticed movement in the darkness with his peripheral vision. He noticed it was to the right of him, somewhere close to the path of Tim O'leary. He marked the spot on the battlefield display.
"Phillip, Tim here. What's that you marked?" A voice came over his earpiece.
Phillip looked again -- surely enough, something was out there. He switched over to IR. "Possible enemy position. Hold on... good, the system has picked it up. It is 318m N67°E from my position, moving very slowly." As he spoke, the red triangle on the display moved again.
"Carlos and I will converge on the enemy position from behind. Tim, you and Phillip move into block the escape path." Another voice came over the secure communication channel.
"While Louis, David, and myself will complete the net." Said a third voice.
"Good," said Phillip. The pale blue round dots on his display started converging on the little red triangle. He himself started to move slowly and steadily towards his right.
Tense minutes followed. The little red triangle did not seem to realised that it was being surrounded, as the net slowly tightened.
"Okay guys, lets try to capture him." Phillip flipped back to low light vision again. He targeted his sniper rifle against the dark silhouette, locked against an invisible laser beam bouncing back from the figure. While Louis and David closed in, the rest of them waited silently in the darkness liked coiled springs.
Suddenly there's a flash of light in the darkness, followed by an agonised voiced of David on the earpiece, "****!" Reflexsively, Phillip squeezed the trigger gingerly. The dark figure stumbled back while a couple of shapes leapt into its location.
"David, hold your position, I am coming over to take a look at you now."
"No big deal, he got me in the left arm."
A moment later, Carlos and Louis came back dragging a man behind them.
"Simon, call back to Field HQ. It starts to look bad out here."
Refugee Camp 7-G, League Patrolled Relief Area, Free Azan. General Yoon Hana commanding.
The first four hours after Frankychanland's latest offensive were tense. The orders from CoCo had been clear: defend the relief area at all costs. Thankfully, FCL forces had meticulously avoided the League's safe zone. General Yoon was confident that the League's defences, bolstered as they were by Noosland's Blue Caps and New Aurora's surprisingly well-armed local militia, would be able to hold out long enough for Guardinia or Centralis to come charging in, should the Hive or Frankychanland be crazy enough to violate their neutrality, but she didn't like the prospect one bit. Still, she was elected to do a job....
The general sighed. The situation would have to fall apart right before this month's Delegate Elections, wouldn't they? There was more than enough pressure at home for Jonchastan to stay out of things without the fascists of the world going nuts.
Her train of though was interrupted by a junior officer, who came at a run into the office the general had commandeered shortly after arriving from New Aurora.
"General Yoon! You'd better take a look at this."
General Yoon was ushered to one of the camp's processing centres, where a long queue (as usual) had formed. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, until the general noticed the man at the front of the line. The shock of recognition left her at a loss for words.
"General," said the man smoothly in a strong Azani accent, "I am Commandante Benyamin Gluckstein. I was hoping you would be here. I am glad that my sources were correct. We have much to talk about."
