china didn't want to wait any longer. so general Sun's light tank army took Kiungchow and overran the bomber fleet stationed there.

operation formosa was a failure. the valiant light tank unit was bombarded as it approached the city, and it then got destroyed... by a flak unit

on the motherland, the bulk of the army moved northward, along with the entire artillery core.

Peking was heavily defended, although no japanese soldier can stand ground to the determined Chinese army.

7 chinese artillery units, along with the 3 artillery regiments captured from the japs, fired straight and true into the enemy. Only one shot missed. This was followed by a seven fold tank rush and then the city fell.

we are only 7% short of world area to dominate the game now

Yes indeed it would but for now we have a war to win

The Commonwealth has spent this month consolidating its grip on indonesia and moving forces about for future ops. There was small arms action to secure the airbase near Saigon and now the Jap has been totally removed from this theatre. I was surprised he made no use of this facility to fly reinforcements in but like my esteemed colleague says it would perhaps be different in another reality

China we intend to send the force of Artillery through your lands to assist your forces in the North, can you endeavour to clear a path for us.

America we have the small task force you spotted in sight but were unable to reach them at this time, we hope you can deal the death blow to their ships this turn.

One suggestion we have is to call all troops from the front lines for R&R for a month and heal those wounds, that is what we have done only sending out the Artillery to the Chineses with a secure escort.

Our Air force took possession of two new heavy bombers last month with 3 more rolling off the production lines next month, we hope to be able to bomb formosa next month

dear allies

for the first time for months, no battles at all have taken place! units are recovering from the fierce battle for palau and transport ships are being built and loaded to move to the next target.

unfortunatly, we doubt netherlands will have to fight another battle in this game as only 6% of the region's area has to be conquered and after the liberation of formosa, the chinese army will only have to concentrate on one direction: north. by the time our units even reach the next enemy city, the war will be over! (which -as such- wouldn't be that bad)

Tired of ads?

at first i thought the war was over, since my advisor advised me that the people want to build the history of ww2 ... it's odd that it didn't unlock (along with the military academy) a few turns earlier.

a lone japanese destroyer was sunk. seems the captain thought he could ram the ship through the Foochow harbor. a few well landed bombs proved him wrong. scouts didn't see any other enemy ship in the entire yellow sea, although it's possible some are hiding in the sea of japan. that area will be scouted out in march.

bombing runs on Mukden were successfull, amazingly there was not a single enemy interceptors, nor any planes in any air strips. oh and one skilled bombardier landed a big one right on Mukdens soldier barracks, obliterating it

following that, the 101st flying dragons landed on the mukden gold mines. Mukden is now surrounded, and is also under the aim of the artillery.

shelling will start soon

too bad general Sun's tank army is under maintenance in Peking. He should be able to resume action by april.

clearing the way for the CommonWealth:

hop on the Hillside Terminal to the north of your stack. from there take the kun-chun King express, and then connect with the Sian Line. workers are hurrying up to finish the Victory express rail, from Sian to Peking, although it probably will not be finished to speed up your stack in time. China sent you some pamphlets of the nearby highways and biways of the area, so please refer to them to find the best route

This war will undoubtedly be over soon, we congratulate youy all our esteemed allies for the bravery and efficiency shown by your troops, seamen and air boys.

Jap is on the run and has nowhere to hide, only this month we bombed the city of Formosa with heavy bombers stationed in Hue, which we will continue to carry out untill an ally can take the city.

Our squadron of bombers is growing with 2 more rolling into service next month.

China we have followed the maps your troops borrowed to us and have sent advanced scouts to recce the route to take. Though there is a chance the Artillery will arrive too late to the party they shall press ahead regardless hoping to at least kill some more Japs before this thing is through.

America our Cruiser finished the Jap transporter near Manilla, though we are puzzled as to why exactly it had stayed put and not made a run for cover. Kamakaze transports without any diesel

Oh well the crew will be feeding the sharks now

There is a Jap destroyer operating in the area of Formosa and to its NE we are not sure where it ran to but be on the lookout !! you may get the prize unexpectedly.

Finally to our friends from the Netherlands, we would be very happy if you could help out with the clean up operation around Singapore. We apologise for not responding to your kind offer earlier as we let it slip our minds

ok, i'll go for formosa... it'll be about 2-3 turns until my first units get there... they'll have to hold ground until the next wave comes. but if CM can then keep bombing then (not yet), i'll have a good chance of taking it

CM: cleaning crews will start next month... just 2 more own tiles to improve, then you hills will be mined and railroaded and the jungle cut depolluted and mined or irrigated (what do you prefer?)

thanks for the resend

03/1943 sent to redboy-paddy!

moved units more into position. 2 full transports would be ready to "board" formosa in 2 turns, but i may wait for the 3rd ship which will take 1 turn more. i've got 2 combat engineers, 2 flak and tons of stupid little infanterists on those ships... more are following behind, but china and commenwealth will probably have cleaned japan out of asia and won the game before i can go for okinawa

CM: just 2 more of my tiles are not yet perfected, then my workers are all yours! i may even dispatch some in the next turn if my city doesn't need the extra mined and railroaded hills yet

Marine boot camps are overflowing

Fighter Bombers from Saipan commence bombing runs on Iwo Jima

The fleet moves

CA Honolulu dispatched a jap destroyer that tried to interfer

And the Fleet Bombardment of Iwo Jima begins

The shame of it, the airport was destroyed

Then the transport "Decider" unleashed her precious cargo of Marines upon the island.

The fighting was fierce, the loss of Jappa live amazing.

Iwo Jima be ours

F4 Wildcats and Fighter Bombers from Manila and Puerto Princess straff and bomb Formosa

SS SkipJack takes out Jappa Destroyer south east of Formosa

Guam continues to Riot, holding the "Sam Carter" and her mighty cargo.

march report:

scouts we're unable to find any enemy ships. if they have any naval units, they are not anywhere at sea near China

however the scouts have seen the Japan defenses for the isles of Komi and Saishu, both are defended by a flak unit. Okinawa on the other hand, scouts saw a regular infantry defending the city and another regular infantry guarding the radar on the hill of that island.

additionally, bombing of formosa took place without much result, except the destruction of the courthouse. sorry

Commonwealth: We'll allow you to pass through the city of Kaifeng, so your stack can reach the front in one turn. Please return it back once done, as it allows china to be up there in a single turn too.

shelling of Mukden did a good job at weakening defenses, allowing a frontal tank assault as the 101st flying dragons captured the city from the rear. the city is putting up some serious civillian resistance, yet it's still another victory for the allies

and with this great success of non conventional troops, training camps are now being set up across the country to help drill marines and paratroopers, much like the one in Sian where our american delegated drill seargeant is forming up the first Chinese Marine Regiment

i was thinking of playing an open PBEM game where you write up your stories as DAR so the AU students could learn. it would have to be a locked alliance game if maps are disclosed, but if any of you would want to play too, it would be nice.

right at the moment i'm a but busy with my PBEMs, but in summer maybe?

i was thinking of documenting a PBEM against sid civs. a bit like this one, but it would be an epic game. the reason would be for the AU pupils to watch and learn while the AU masters can laugh about us and patronise us

but i'm running out of time in my thesis... i can't really do any more PBEMs anyway...

The Commonwealth has continued to bombard Formosa both from the air and sea, we managed to weaken several enemy units guarding this town.

2 more new shiny heavybombers entered service this month and have joined the Hue Bommber wing stationed in Hue.

The BB The Prince of Wales has made it safely back to her home port of Singapore for much needed repairs after her recent engagements. We are working around the clock refitting her with new weapons systems hoping to get her back to the Jap home islands, to dish it out once more before this war ends.

We thank our trusted Chinese allies for their lend lease of Kaifeng for this last month, it helped greatly with ourntroop deployent ops, and we should be able to provide artillery support to your troops very shortly.

Good luck to one and all throughout April, we pray to speak with you again in May God willing

dear friends

1 transport ship is now in range of formosa and 2 more will be ready a month later. so the assault is planned in june... if the war isn't already over by then (only 5300 victory points missing

we would like to ask our allies not to bomb the city in this month because we wouldn't want to lose the airport when we take the island! next turn, a one time bombing "escort" would be nice again we would also kindly like to ask to leave us the path open to land on the hills north of formosa. our ships may have 1 reserve movement point, but if 2 of your ships unfortunatly park next to each other, this may postpone our landing by a further month!

otherwise our war machine is working at full production! if only netherlands would have started with this infrastructure, we could have had a more noticeable effect on world peace

We are glad hear that the Mighty Prince of Wales has made it safely to Harbour.

It has been hard to hold off on attacking Formosa, also holding back my marines based in Aparri from ramming their Transporter "Cherokee" upon the rocks of Formosa, and smashing the Jappa Garrison.

It has been quite an amazing time for my communications people.

At this time I have islands, task forces, and various units scattered from one end of the Pacific to the other.

It with a greatful heart that I thanl the many men and women of the communication teams that enable to keep my people in touch.

Fleet Air Bombing Runs begin on Tokyo - the Jappa Capital

At this time my Battleships are to far away to get in this month for Bombardment of Tokyo.

At best I can ram 5 Destroyers into Tokyo Bay, and unleash their Marine components. The best result from this would be to Raze Tokyo to the ground. This does not meet the strategic requirements of the US high command.

I look forward to the coming month when I have the full Resources of the US 5th Fleet for the attack, bombardment and taking of Tokyo.

So at this time, my men stand their ground, and look across the sea, and await the order to move in and Take down the Capital of the Land of the Jappa.

You must feel for the Jappa intelligence people at this time. For in many ways the 5th Fleet has dissapeared. They have entered the harbour and coves of Iwo Jima. They stand poised for the run on Tokyo.

Truk, Guam and Siaipan are all in Riot... a sad day

paratroopers ready to take pusan next month, joined with the very excited light tank army. and will be supported by bombers.

China wants to take some japanese mainland too! I'd suggest not razing any cities. it's so very tempting because riots are so very annoying. i'd like to have the war ended by xmas

first amphibious attack force is ready, and will be cast off next month

Another quiet month for the Commonwealth, with one small skirmish involving our light tanks in Northern China.

China we have moved several units in to a tile just outside your territory, on the coast of your Northern shore. We are planning to build an airbase there next month to bring our long range bombers into range of the Jap home islands. please if you have any objection to this move let my people know and this action will be averted.

Netherlands, we are sorry to report that several of our ships and bombers were given orders to cointinuously bombard Formosa last month and we were too late getting your request processed to cancel these orders this month. We are sure the airport still stands there and will endeavour this does not get repeated next month. Good news is though that the visible Japanese defending troops there are all severly injured and we estimate there units to be at less than 25% strength.

America we are hoping to be able to attain bombing capability over the whole Jap home islands and will be able to provide air support to your forces where directed in two months time.

I strongly urge all my allies not to settle for half measures in this war, lets not accept any victory lest it be the complete removal of the Japanese empire !!! I say lets press this war regardless of certain mechanics and completely wipe Japan off the map !!

may 1943 was a quiet but important month for the dutch forces. 3 transport loads of units have stormed the hills north of formosa and are ready to attack in the next month! unfortunatly, no good defensive forces have been brought with so a counterattack of the japanese may weaken our strongest offensive forces - the our combat engineers (11.6.1). we would wish that the dutch infantry would have slightly better defensive values so they could take over any assault, but unfortunatly, they aren't good soldiers! 2 artillery and one flak unit are also on the island. with some luck, we should be able the to take the city in the next turn. and with the airport, we can imediately reinforce the city from other islands!

our espionage submarines have detected a nipponese infantry unit guarding a radar tower north east of okinawa. we recommend destroying that unit AND the tower for easier assault on that island. marines are in production, but it may be difficult to conquer a nipponese infantry hidden in the hills with assistance from the information of a radar tower!

dutch scientists are wondering when the long promised technology of "armoured tactics" will be invented and donated. we really feel that better tanks could speed up the warfare by a few months and lessen the tragic losses!

to our american friends: we don't mind you taking and razing tokyo. we're sure that that would completely break the morale of the japanese people and in addition, their empire on the island would be split in 2 parts.

if the roads to akita would be destroyed (maybe happened already, our maps may be old), that city would be completely cut off from all luxury resources except the furs. the poeple would be very unhappy and japan would have to concentrate on defending revolting japanese leading to starvation amongst the population! the weakest spot is just north of tokjo and may require 2 successful bombing runs to get rid of both rails and roads.

that's all for now, allies... only 4600 victory points are still needed! or 5% of the world area (we'll contribute 1-2% by liberating formosa!)
