Issues or Things I was More Involved In During This Term:
- CGN Loan Issue (especially the second loan)
- City Naming Lists
- Series of PMs with Lucky about the Cheating Issue
- Agreement in U.N. to Ban Unit Warping
- Attempt at Agreement with GWT and others on WW Issue
- GWT Victory Contingency Discussion (what we should do if GWT won against CGN before it became obvious)
- Main Proponent of "Big Army" in the "Big Army" versus "Big Navy" Debate
- Naming BigFurryMonster and Kloreep as Deputy Consuls
Of course, playing turns and making sure that turn reports were well done were important as well.
I think the turnthread that would be of most interest to the voter would be this one.
This one and this one may also be good.
I think the previous term, I spent a lot of time just supporting the ministers and discussing plans with them and the other Consuls, making sure that communication stayed open. I've also remained quite active in the various debates or discussions in the forum (and tried to ensure that debates from chat make it to the forum).
This all said, it's been a relatively rough term. The game has moved very slowly over the past 3 months and that's made things somewhat frustrating for all of us, I think. With the game moving more slowly and less "going on" for Apolyton, we've spent much of our ISDG time over the past 3 months arguing with each other over a number of issues not pertaining to what is going on day-to-day in the game (aside from CGN's situation), some of them extremely productive to the future and some of them certainly not. I'm more than willing to admit that my nerves have frayed a few times over the previous term and I'm sincerely sorry for the times it happened.
That said, I happen to be a proponent of the idea that much of internal debate (the productive parts, anyhow) act as a fuel for making our team better than it might otherwise be. I made the comment last week to Trip and/or E_T (I forget which one was there or if both were there) that neither of those two would be as much of an asset to the team as they are with the other one around constantly challenging their ideas and pestering them with their own ideas (since the two of them CONSTANTLY argue in chat). The same has certainly been true between everyone in the leadership and between much of the team, I think. This team would not be as strong and capable as it is without as many people constantly challenging each other as there are.
Well, before I digress on into completely unrelated topics and make this post far too long, I'll move on and close the post.
