I was being deliberately obscure, as an alternative to using spoiler mode, which i find awkward. Sorry if that was confusing.

Ive done about as many quests as i can figure out and do in the areas that are open to me. I may be missing something, but I presume to complete the rest i need to leave the hive, and i cant do that till i find Pharod.

Ive reached the point where i can handle those battles, pretty much.
quote: As for the thief, it doesn't matter too much what you play as. If you are more comfortable as a thief, that's fine. You can switch back and forth using various NPC (even some in your party). I think Dakkon can train you as a fighter. A women in the northwest area who is a witch trains you as a mage. Also a woman in the northwest can train you as a theif. |
Yup, i love the way the game integrates dual classing INTO the story. A major advance over BG, I think.
quote: And yes, finding pharod will open up alot. The game flows fairly fast from there. At first the game can be kind of daunting, because you have no direction. You are just roaming around town. But as I said, it might be best to pick up a little more experience around town before going down and finding pharod. |
Ive leveled up all 3 party members at least once, and the nameless one twice before dualing. I think im ready.

I went into the catacombs, but didnt know how to get back out till you and Jamski commented.
ok, while in the catacombs first time, going through central area and all the side crypts, but not dead nations or the other big area (forgot the name) i collected, among other things, several skulls and stuff, including two wererat skulls. Will this be useful anywhere (other than the tattoed leg, ive figured that one out already)
Second time in i went to dead nations. Fought instead of talking. Was that a mistake? Ive now got NPC skulls - do I need those? Also found a silver ring - first ive seen in the game - is that the missing piece for the guy in the alley of dang angles who needed a gold, silver, and bronze ring?

ok, so after my first visit to dead nations, i head back to ragpickers, to buy and sell stuff, rest, and finish some quests. I go to sharegrave ( a lovely name, no?) and tell him about Pharod. The dialogue indicates there may be little time left for Pharod (oops!) so i skip the other sidequests and run back underground. I finish drowned nations, and the associated quest. I level up. I head over to the warrens of thought. Ok, having fought my way through dead nations, im gonna dialogue this. Well i guess i the wrong thing to the wererat. Im sent to the back, as a prison, i guess, and have to do lots of fighting against nasty rats of different kinds. After dying several times, and not finding anything particularly worthwhile, i didnt bother saving. I may go back to an earlier save and try to do the whole catacombs thing over again.
Maybe i need higher charisma to get good dialogue choices here?
Im thinking that dualing to thief was stupid. I dont do the stealth thing much, there have been few traps, i dont know if the door thing has helped, and the few good lock picks just arent worth it. I suppose dualing to mage would be better, but by the time i find a gardener ill be such a high level fighter, that it would be a long time to get fighter skills back.
It would be better if i had more party members. Ive only got nameless, morte, and da'akon. Anah and igus wouldnt join, despite trying various dialogue options. Do I need higher charisma, or to wait till a later point in the story? Im stumped.
