ok, i made it through the tenement to the alley, and have now received the request to kill the dabus. Seems like I have to move on, but it something tells me this isnt a good idea.

re: spoiler tags - i really didnt expect y'all to be THAT rigorous about it - thanks - Im impressed. But I dont see anyone posting here who is playing PST and is behind me in the game - some lurkers maybe? In any case i did try to put things discretely.

I didnt take the hammer from the dead dabus, and now its too late for that it seems. I seem to remember a hammer somewhere further back, in the Tenement of Thugs, I think, but im not sure where.

well, fortunately my last save was just before

spoiler(highlight to read): i trapped the dabus. so i got the hammer, did the repairs, and the street opened up. Im now in the lower ward. Ive lost Morte, but have hints of where to get him back. I guess this is why I need to keep a skull with me - I presume there will be some kind of trade. Ive trained nameless one back to fighter from thief. Looks like a lot of potential quests here. I havent entered the market yet.

spoiler(highlight to read): Actually, Morte is not required to finish the game, but he has a lot of dialogue, deep connections with the script and is one cool character. This place is one of more interesting in the game. Enjoy!

There's a lawful evil fighter you can pick up soon I believe. He's hard to get. You have to talk him into joining you.

What's the story with multiclassing? Meaning, how do I gain levels in classes other than fighter?

Also, if I gain weapon proficiencies as a fighter (e.g., if I specialize in the use of daggers), then do I keep that specialization if I start gaining levels as a mage? I just finished the quest where I had to retrieve that guy's beads, and he's offering to up my proficiencies, but I dunno how this business works.

from what i gather, Nameless one can switch to a new class by getting trained by one of the folks who offer. Ive gone from fighter to thief and back to fighter. Once youre the new class you accumulate XP like usual. Im not sure you can ever get your old class back except by retraining again.

My general sense of the game is that
1. Gaining levels is not as powerful as in BG.
2. Fine points of combat - weapons proficienies and such - are harder to manage, and less significant - and therefore given all the other stuff you have to follow, not really worth paying a lot of attention to.

I say pick a weapon specialization and stick with it. For example- edged. Maybe keep a backup like blunt weapons if anyone is resistant to edged.

Multiclassing can be simple- and complicated.

You can switch at anytime whenever you find a trainer. You go to the new class and cannot use your old class. But you can switch back at anytime as long as you have a trainer around. And you begin accumulating XP in that previous class from where you left off.

The part where it may become complicated is those bonuses you get at 7th and 11th level (I believe it is at 7th and 11th). You could get the figher bonus at 7, and the mage bonus at 11. Or get mage bonues at 7 and 11.

Either way. I recommend either fighter or mage. thief is okay, but you can just use

and she's hot too. So there's not reason not to use her . And having 2 thieves seems to be a waste. There is also a priest you can get is hot as well. So you are in good company.

ive started playing again - i little hard to get back into after a couple of weeks away - thats the problem with RPG's, I guess.

I like that they don't allow the fallout-style "evilness" of just killing random townspeople -- the Lady doesn't stand for that for very long.

Question:

spoiler(highlight to read): If I kill Trias before he tells me how to get into the fortress of regrets, is there any possible way to win the game? I tried it just to see what would happen, and then I couldn't find a way out of Carceri.

spoiler(highlight to read): You did WHAT! I am not clear when did you kill him, in final confrontation in Carceri? He asked you to spare him but you chopped him before he told you the info? I must admit that I haven't tried that. If I remember correctly, portal to Hive shall appear in cases you spare him or not, so it should appear here, but acting so, you may have severed plot triggers. I am not sure if game developers thought of that. Try redoing that, if not, it seems that developers forgot that, or are intentionally being evil.

Do you enjoy playing PST again after having been through the plot once? This is my first time, but it doesnt strike as being as replayable, as say, BG.
