The RCT graphics dont lend themselves well to city graphics at all, the industries have clearly had more work but most of the city buildings look worse than SC2K, its hardly a step up from TT in that area. I also half keep expecting to see people queueing with balloons and puking on the roads.

UGH. No pathing finding at all.

I built a track that looked like this, more or less:

A------B
.....|.....
.....|.....
....C.....

To go from Station A to Station B, the train first goes into station C and turns around before continuing on to B.

Wait, nevermind. I got it going on the right track. it was due to some signal bizzarity where the train wouldn't go straight because, due to the way the T corner was, it thought that it occupied the track infront of it itself.

I can't get rails to work correctly (Haven't played Transport Tycoon)...
I'm playing the first (of the easiest) levels... first I built a rail from the coal mine to the iron works... no problem... then I build a rail from the iron mine to the iron works, just before those two rails 'get together' I have those "stop signs"... having two trains works fine... but when I try to inclue the third place (the place that needs iron) into the network, it all stops working... I've tried a few ways, but nothing works... could someone with more experience than me please make this network so I can see how to do it?

The easy way is to do it with double stations at each destination, so the trains come in to one platform and then leave from the other. This means you have trains dedicated to just one commodity, and they will be empty on the way back, but this worked in TT1, and I'd imagine it'll work again.

In the easy scenarios you dont even need double tracks. Ive been using one station at each end with a loop in between for the second train to via off on while the other passes on the side. I suspect ill have to be far more efficient in the medium scenarios though. Im glad theres no messing with depots.

It'll take soem more experimentation, I guess, before I can really say if I like the new more than the old.

I think it is worth it. It may take a bit more space but you can still make rather efficient dual tracks, and what extra space it takes up is more than made back in being able to build subterranean tracks and bridges over top of buildings.

Suffering from ads?

I have a question because i dont have a manual i dont know how to do it but when you give a train a tanker and the tanker's main purpose is "chemicals" but also carries oil, in the earlier scenarios, i want to set a train to wait for a full load of "oil" but whenever i set full load it says chemicals and obviously never leaves the station because there is no chemicals there. This also happens when you want to set to wait for a full load of passengers and it keeps saying mail if you have a mail truck.

No doubt double tracks are more effecient, theres no hold ups if its only 2 trains and 2 track all the way around, you can usually run more trains if none are waiting for full load. But why didnt you compelte the 2 track all the way?

Click and hold on the button and a menu will come up with all the possible cargo.

The two incoming tracks are actually from different destinations, and aren't yet connected except when leaving the station... it was mostly just an experiment to see if I could get a station to handle traffic well, and it is so far. I also have it set up so that I could easily connect the two tracks and have trains going through various different routes if need be, or expand the station if it becomes conjested.

The exit which takes the bridge rounds back to the lowermost track, and the exit which continues straight rounds back to the track under the bridge.

One thing I learned while making this simple junction.... trains can no longer stop on a dime. Don't demolish track if there's a train coming that way.

And I also have a question... does anyone know what the difference is between the various types of track signals?

Do you mean the style or their function? I assumed signs of different periods only looked different and that "single" and "double" were just like in TT. But I havent played past the year 1935 yet though and havent had to use any complicated signals to complete all the beginner and easy scenarios.

I also noticed this, if a station catchment isnt covering all of the resource your picking up, you can add extra stations that count as the same station, but do nothing. This oil well was producing around 100 tons between each visit before i added the 3 new dummy stations, now it produces 300 tons.

I'm playing the Great Britain 100 year challange, and there are variable signal types, like upper and lower quadrant or long distance, or something. I don't know. I haven't experimented with them yet.

Could someone take a look at the track I've built here and tell me where it goes wrong?

Near the oil-well I have built two railroads next to each other, with easy to switch between those two. Then I had two trains (one a each station... the one at the top station left first, and came to the above mentioned railroads at the same time with the other train... the second train was running on the 'top' track (away from the wells), while the first train just came down the bridge (to those tracks). It perfectly knew the other train was on the 'top' track, but this train continiued on the 'top' track also, and crashed into the other train... it had a perfect chance to get down to the 'bottom' track to avoid the crash, but didn't...

I don't have any of those 'stop signs' anywhere, since with those, I couldn't get two trains to run at the same time... I have no idea how those are supposed to be set up... Could someone give me a hint?

I'm not completely familiarized with how it works in Locomotion, but basically trains have to be seperated by lights, in both directions. Think of each segment of track (all that is connected, corners and intersections included) which is between two lights as seperate sections of track. For a train to get the green light to enter that section, there can't be any trains in it.

You need signals to tell the trains to stick to one side of the tracks, kind of like a road driving on the right side. When you place a one way signal an arrow appears telling you which direction it will signal to, if a train comes the wrong way to the signal the train will just turn around (i assume) like in TT.

In the screenshot a train travelling out of that station will always go to the left track, while a train coming down towards the station can choose either platform to load up on because there is 2 double signals telling it with platform is free.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Playing the full game but very unsuccessfully. So any help appreciated before i delete it in frustration.

Firstly, playing the tutorial, the on screen instructions say 'set up a bus route' and that's it. Is there more ?

Setting up a bus route the bus seems to drive around ages and just keeps going back to the same depot and not pickingup any passengers. I've added two depots to the route but it ignores them. So...

Am i doing something blindly obvious wrong ?

Do depots have facings ? Have i put the entrance on the wrong side ?

Where are all the passengers ? In two years i didn't get any passengers.

In the routing should the wait until full be below the 'go to city x' (probably an obvious question but just checking).

Assuming i ever get any cargo do i have to add the empty command or will it do that automatically at the next stop.

The express/local says that setting it to express will make it only stop at the waypoints on it's route ? Does that mean it ignores stations ?

thanks

S
