Locomotion AkA Transport Tycoon 2? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

July 2004 issue of Computer Games reports that Locomotion by Chris Sawyer which is his newest version of Transport Tycoon will be release in the Fall of 2004. The publisher is Atari. You will find the story on page 43.

There are two pictures of the game and the story said there will be 40 scenarios and seven AI opponents. Also the story said there will be hundred and hundred of vehicles on screen at once. Start of the game year will be 1920.

The graphics in the picture look like SC 3 quality. So they may not be today graphics but still look really nice.

I would be worried of buying any atari product upon release, even with sawyer's name attached. Sid's name certainly didn't help...

If they leave him alone and let him do his job, we will have a great game. When he work for Sid and Co. at MicroProse his game required very few patches.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

From the pictures they have:
I see double-tracks in a single tile; lightrails placed on streets; potentially easier placement of rails through a city without razing everything in sight; new architectural style

Can't wait to see more...

SC3? SimCity 3?
Those graphics looks like RCT to me...

I like the fact that the graphics are not up-to-date, since this means they probably spent more time on the gameplay

Can't say that I expect much about this game anyway, since I've never played Transport Tycoon

There also seems to be street cars that use rail built into the street.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

The graphics look poor at this stage but then again they could easily be placeholders. I also hope the finished article doesn't have runways ending next to tall buildings. I still want to buy it though, provided there is a straightforward open mode where you build across a big map against the competition. Smaller scenario challenges are fine for a while but they make it much harder to play again after a reinstsall if you have to go through the first fifteen you already did before getting something new.

Well there are usually ways to extract the data needed to import your saved profile or mission history after the reinstall.

I don't tend to keep old save files for years just in case I play a game again. If it gets taken off the HDD, I erase everything.

Tired of ads?

What's a few MB against the agony of having to replay stuff you don't want to? I keep saves for all games I haven't finished.

Hmm... to me the graphics looked Sim City 2 quality... I don't think that the game will sell very well.

Transport Tycoon was a good game for a time, but it quicly grew repetitive...

thankfully, however, there were many options for winning.

An expanded stock market like Railroad Tycoon II would be a good addition, however

When the HDD is full and its delete a game or delete the 'old saves and patches' folder it is an easy decision to make.

Just recently I had to reinstall from scratch and that cleared loads of miscellaneous junk out of all the buried folders. Now I have more space for games, some old saves that have potential reuse may last a while, but not indefinitely. Okay, perhaps this is just a sign that a new and bigger HDD should be next on my shopping list

Or you can just download save games / 'unlocking' cracks.

But I agree that the system used in RCT was a tad annoying... although it did make playing through the first time more enjoyable, I think.

You know... I only ever beat one RCT scenario- they were far too hard.

I just downloaded the cracks and played on the mega-design-your-own-park with unlimited cash.

that's honestly all I wanted to do.

all those mega-park scenarios where flat terrain, though. Nothing interesting at all.

That's what made RTC more fun the first time through, unlocking the maps and finding out what sort of new terrain or gimmick the next ones have. Although I did really hate a few of them and got stuck near the end without wanting to finish anymore.

I just found a scenario designer so I could make my own free-play map, with lots of different terrain

You can build up the terrain- that's what I did. I certainly had enough capital

-
another note: I actually had the best RCT site on the internet for a time:

RCT United... with THE biggest list of RCT Ideas on the net! and some amazing parks... and anything else a RCT player could EVER want!

http://home.att.net/~tivoligardens/index.html

now of course, it's in about 3 different HTML design styles, but that's more laziness than anything else (and RCT wouldn't run on my new XP so I had to give it up )
